We were scheduled to do a dawn ride two weeks ago, but that weekend clashed with the National AGM, so it was shuffled out to this weekend...so being Easter Sunday, we rode in hope of seing the Son rise......we were 2,000 years late for that.....and the sun didn't make an appearance either!! With such an early start I checked the tyres and packed my gear last night and hit the sack about 1030 after setting the alarm for 0345 as that gave me time to scrub up and get on the road by 0420, ...
Two of us rode down from Te Awamutu to Wanganui for the Central Plateau scooter challenge on the Friday. Met up with a group from Port Waikato and Auckland at Taumarunui who were riding their 50's down for the run. They were going via the Wanganui river road so Barbara and I carried on over the Parapara's. We never went past a green paddock anywhere. The country sure needs rain. We had a billet arranged for the night and next morning made our way to Trafalger square. A lot of comic ...
I've had a couple of rides in the last two weeks. Last week seven bikes (2 were spyders) of us went over to Masterton to support the the Wai'rapa Ulys on their Life Education Trust Charity Ride. The weather was great and I left home at 0805 (a little late) for an 0830 depature from Caltex Rimutaka....so we were only 10 minutes late. After a scoot over the hill then a sedate pootle up to Masterton, we arrived at the Copthorne at 0930, registered and socialised until departing on the ...
One side affect of the demise of the Triumph is there's a total lack of drama when I head to the track. Friday was a Honda day with Aaron Slight. It was also stinking hot and the last time I was at Hampton Downs was for AMCC Round 3, which had also been stinking hot. However, on that particular day not only had I learnt a lesson about how track temperature affects the tyres but the track had started falling apart. This ...
From the day i first started riding I have been aiming to get a CBR954. In my opinion they are one of the best looking bikes ever made. From the first day I saw one I was in love. Finally I found myself in a position to get one relatively cheap that I could really make my own. I first saw it on Trademe - CBR954 perfect trackbike, stripped to essentials - deregistered, no headlight, indicators, mirrors, left hand switch cluster and a few other bits and pieces. ...
Heres Aprillias rather similar conceptual take on reverse three wheelers the "Aprillia Magnet" Gotta say, looks like fun!!
One of the common questions I asked all riders was for an interval on brake fluid changes. The norm seemed to be every 1-2 years for most road riders. Various intervals were given by track riders and racers like from very regularly to annually. The follow up question on "How long is a bottle of brake fluid good for once the seal is broken?" again received a common answer of 30 days which is correct. After 30 seconds of silence, puzzled looks and a little ...
So essentially what this is is a Ford model T chassis minus rear axle with an Indian 80 cubic inch motor & most of it's frame minus forks etc The guy in the pic made this out of junk for the then princely sum of $18 I'm not sure of the year but suspect 1920s This device was good for 63 mph! I'll be using a T bucket hot rod chassis & transverse leaf spring front end The back wheel will be using ...
