  • Next BIG Protest with StoneY and the Unions

    Ok everyone
I have had a few people mention there is no defined thread for the NEXT PROTEST

I have sevreal Unions on board for a big march on Parliament, and the wheels are starting to roll
Dates set for 16th February, at this point its a logical date as the Corrections Union are having a march the week before, and some other group have one the week after so we get a finite window of oppotunity to pull this off.

I have requested permission from the Speaker to enter the grounds en-masse on 16th February.

This is about more than just Bikers but we want to have a strong presence there.

I need about 3-400 bikers to attend on the day and make a visible presence at the front of the house, but this time speakers will all be Unionists and Academics and other disafeccted groups (is that the right term?)

Its gonna take some work to pull it off again, and I am hoping we get the same support we got last time for the BIKEOI, but wont hold my breath.

Anyone keen to help, PM me
And I aint talking about handing out fliers, I mean WORK and responsibility for some of the organisation...(nearly killed myself the last time with exhaustion.)

This iwll be along the same lines as the BIKEOI, peacefull but a strong message
Want loads of signs, banners, and a good chant, one I think we have heard before, LOL

    StoneY

Stoney already put hand up to organise horowhenua & have guys all set for palmerston north area .. just needed confirmation of date & times .. so what time are we looking at heading on masse to parliment, will we be congregating at the two points again .. although going by the last one we need to leave earlier to get to parliment for the whole shebang
    1. sunhuntin's Avatar
quite a bit earlier, if we get similar numbers. by the time i got to parli, the speeches were already well under way.

Now remember this ones not all about us bikers, we are all welcome but its not expected that the thousands of bikes from last time will be there. A good few hundred- a thousand maybe, but yeah lower N.I. can sure represnt.

We wont have convoy parks and escorts and the stadium will be a foot gathering spot if were llowed. so the bikes will come to Molesworth st if I can get the council onside again
And of course thousands of non bikers will be there, trudhing past our machines....we will be more symbolic than the main event this time if you get the drift.

Be good to have a few slow cruisers that wont overheat lead the footmarch, but do such bikes exist? @ kms of crawl speed in front of a foot march?......

I have requested 12-2pm Parliament Access Chanceyy mate.
So much the same timing as last time, but no laager's set up at Avalon and Papakowhai, I want all riders to just show up in individual groups, marshals to park em up, and you know, if Molesworth St ends up blocked by bikes...I dont care (hint hint)

We will NOT have the Stadium for the bikes this time, the foot march will be gathering there if the Stadium agrees (another collection too)
I will be sorting the toilets again bbut the Unions are picking up those fee's this time

I hope to have a good show of bikers, and I envisage we are already all there when the footmarch and our 'symbolic' slow bike convoy leading the marchers (10 or so cruiser style bikes is the idea) arive, there will already be a crowd of bikers, and we welcome them to Parliament, a quick sound bite along the lines of:

"In November we Bikers came to this place, as Phil Goff called it OUR place, and said 'Bullshit.' Well, we are back, and guess who we brought along, the REST OF NEW ZEALAND!! (Name a few of the union gorups here) have joined us today to say, 'NO WAY!! Get your filthy hands of our ACC!'"

      Or somewhat like that

Thanks for standing up to lead a ride in Chanveyy, and others, but the focus is NOT on a RIDE this time, its on getting sheer numbers of our non biker mates in the grounds, while taking the LEAD and showing we do more than just ride our bikes too, that we give a shit about the rest of NZ as well (even cagers dare I say it!)

Just a quick question ... why have a foot march that will make no impact ...e.g. from stadium to parliament .... something from Civic Square may be more appropriate this time ... as it is not a biker focus ... if they left from Civic square down mercer to willis then down lambton quay .. since it is on foot that would create a huge impact.

my boulevard can roll along at a slow pace if i let go of the clutch and cut the throttle if thats what you are looking for? the damn thing has enough power without the fing throttle -_- stupid bike

The march route will be down Featherston to Willis and back up Lambton...not just the 200m we walked in our bike gear, and already Police and Council are getting tooled up to accomodate us
And no WAY civic Square will hold the numbers we are looking at, its way too small

There's a LOT to be planned yet why is everyone jumping to conclusions?
It took 4 weeks to make BIKEOI happen, so obviously its now time to plan this one, but I want the Unions to do thier share.
Im not going to work myself to death again, and if I dont get any positive support I will walk away from the whole thing

Did I let you all down last time?
Either take over, or follow my lead, I really dont mind which, but these are mere details that have plenty of time to be ironed out and there is no need for any panic

Allready have Parliamentary intelligence and security examining my draft action plan, already have a rally point sorted, already have authorities alerted....its just getting the people on the day now

Sweet as Stoney .. I guess it looks more impressive to have a group heading down & certainly worked well last time

we will discuss options at our meeting n go from there if ppl want to individually ride down or not

I hear you on the organisation of it n if I was closer would have been happy to put hand up .. at least most of the hard yrards was done last time n you have all the contacts

See if you can get some people from the tourism industry marching. There is a national body representing the operators.

In like Flynn mate- will spread the word through my nation wide contacts. The mighty GN will, as always, punch above it's weight!

Keen to do what is needed!!

Good point here, Is there any Assosiations involved? i.e. The Tourism Association, Hospitality Association, Retail Association etc. These guys appear to have "bigger presence" than most unions & the Tourism industry espesially, is set for large targeted hikes like the bikes. (Just a thought)

10 Unions man...theyre in already, food and service workers covers tourism, the PSA who are coordinationg Union involvment are contacting many other relevant bodies.... Retailers, Engineers, Corrections and Police unions (theyve had the highest levy hike of all!)

Many of these 'Associations' are Unions with a flash name anyway, CANZ for example and PSA...no word 'Union' in the title but its what they are

All good idea's but thought of already
All we Bikers need to do is relax, and turn up on Tuesday the 16th
I need 20 or so volunteers to don vizi vests and behave as if theyre officials at gates and parking zones at parliament

The Unions will rally and sheppard the foot marchers, and a few slow cruisers that wont cook off over a 30 minute crawl would be great too but ultimately, we are a show pony, the Unions are doing the numbers, the chants (Whos Next on the march, WE WERE on the grounds is the current theme) and paying the bills

12-2pm is our permitted time (to be confirmed by Lockwood yet) and the Backbencher is getting in extra supplies

I also reckon we do another full on BIKEOI but much later in the piece. Say November again, just to say "we aint forgotten" but thats way ahead in the future, for now lets help the Union's make a good show and kick Nix Myth in the balls!

sweet, will there be any flyer distribution required to get the word out? or are the unions taking care of that? Palmy may be pushing the limit of how far the people would go to protest (non-bikers that is) but if there's flyers It can't hurt to put em up anyways.
