woke up feeling rather sprightly on tuesday morning and thought, I'm ging to go out for lunch. Decided Takaka was lovely this time of year and as my friend would be over there for work I'd met her for lunch.
The Takaka hill has always been veiwed as horrible by some Nelsonians due to the many twistie corners and steepnees. I've only driven over twice and the last time was about 8 years ago. To go on a bike, well I thought that was being very brave. Not brave at all......rewarding myself and giving myself the bestest wee playground. WOW, I so loved it. I was yeeehaaaing most of the way up, even managed to pass some slow vehicles....wow. I had no idea just how much fun a hill could be. Got myself a new friend on a Duc on the way up and part of the way down. then he left me, i'm a bit slow on th descent, have a fear of going too fast and losing control. I'm the same with skiing. Well, got down the hill and the lovely valley road meanders down to the small cutesy township of Takaka. It has shops so me and the credit card went to visit. Bought myself an amazingly cute top and a present for Mastr. Met up with my friend and had the most yummiest pizza fromt the Dangerous Kitchen, try it if you're ever in town. Then it was home again. I got the fun ofplaying from the opposite direction. Really corners are made for motorcycles. I had o much fun and really got some amazing connection happening with me, the bike and the road. It was so fluid and graceful and the descent on the Nelson side was brilliant. 'twas extremely proud of myself and getting over not only the big hill but also my fear of downward motion.
The whole euphoric feeling envoked by that ride stayed with me for a day or so ten on Friday, well, I jus thad to do it again, and again, and again. I did, raced through my workout at the gm, on the bike and off to play. and play i did. went to the top 3 tmes, just because I loved it and because I can. It's given me so much confidence and now I want to ride the whole country. Wil start saving some pennies and get busy on some organising to get the children sorted for a couple of weeks and get out and discover.
Oh and yeah, I think I've sussed out this whole waving thing. For me, it's wow, I'm having a huge lot of fun out here on my bike and when I see another one, it's like...weeeeeeeeeeeee, man this is fun, are you having fun too, i don't always wave, i may just nod but i'm smiling at ya. It's a comraderie thing where we're all doing the same thing, enjoying the feeling of riding our bikes.
