Bike servicing, rebuilding, restoring, manuals, etc..
Another thread raised this subject so I thought I'd give you guys n gals the facts on the compliance AND reCOMPLIANCE process as it stands TODAY. First off there are usually four reasons a bike needs to be complied The first is registration has lapsed. Simply put the owner has for some reason...
Some workshop manual links which may be of use. By no means exhaustive - I really need to have a tidy and sort out of the bookmarks! I also have the K1100RS scan on the archives, and (somewhere) TZ350 and TZ750 ones - just in case I see one in a skip somewhere one day... If anyone has a GSXR400...
I found this a while back, hopefully it will be of use to someone. It lists headset, crank and wheel bearings for a lot of motorbikes :hitcher:
Ok so you own one of these motorcycle thingies & it has occurred to you that sometimes they need maintenance, repairs or adjustments in the workshop. (I’m not intending for this to become a ‘what should I carry’ thread) What does one do about tools? a) Rely on the toolkit (unless it was 2nd...
Anyone know how to get to the oil filter on a 1996 honda 250 hornet?? Haven’t done it myself before and I can’t find the workshop manual. Cheers!
After spending a night out in the rain somehow my accelerator hand grip is now lose as a goose, now it can spin around without giving any throttle. do i just whip the bar end of and lather up bar with some glue? or is there a slightly more technical solution to the prob?
Hi folks, Could anybody suggest where it would be possible to get either a real or a "toy"/"study aid" replica of a motorcycle engine so that I could take it apart and study its parts? It does not have to be a working engine and it does not even have to be real. Something that would suit a curious...
My vfr is running like poos so i'd to compression test it. Does anyone in Auckland have a compression tester with a 8mm adapter I can borrow for a few hours? Or at least, the 8mm adapter. Stupid vfrs have expensive midget sparkplugs!! cheers All TD

can anyone tell me if a steering damper has to be fitted to only specific bike that it was made for. Or, can you buy say an ohlns damper and buy the fitting kit for your individual bike to fit it to? i dont know if dampers for sports bikes are all pretty much the same and its only the fitting...

Hi all... I'm looking for recommendations for a new bike shop to get my Scorpio serviced and WOFed etc. in Wgtn. For the last 2 years she's been serviced where I bought her new, but I've been unhappy with their service and am getting concerned with leaving her with them again. So enough is enough...
I decided not to DIY my off road bike starting issue / carb tuning. I'll keep the peace because if I fire up the bike to tune it I'm sure my popularity with the Mt Roskills will take a direct hit. I've emailed the Red Baron again to the sales dept this time to see if I get a response. Who else...
Righto, Drew managed to get hold of a horible old MVX250 Honda for my birthday 'cause he knows I love em to bits and have always wanted to restore one. RDJase kindly supplied and towed the bike to Manfeild a few weeks back and the exchange was done. Here's the pics. Over the next six months I...

using http://www.milagetracker.org to keep ontop of the bikes upkeep and fuel consumption. just wondering how often services should be done (in an ideal world) this is the list of stuff it tracks. Air Filter - Clean Air Filter - Replace Battery - replace ...
Hi, my KTM 200exc has a rattling noise coming from the motor somewhere. I dont have a clue what it is. I would describe the noise as the same noise a loose rattling kick start makes. Doesnt make the noise when idling though, just when revved. Any Ideas what it could be? I appriciate any help...

I have a '89 FZR400R 3EN2 japanese import and am trying to make sure everything is within standard settings before I try to fix the cold starting problem any further. I have set the valves though they weren't more than .005 out. Clean the carbon build up off the starter commutator which was...
simple question. will an adjustable clutch lever from a '01 bandit (1200) fit a '99 clutch perch? it would be easier if someone knew rather than going down the trial and error route. cheers. (or alternatively you may know which other models use the same perch as the 99. maybe tl1000?...
Heya, was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a service/owners manual for a 2007 or similar Suzuki VL250. (I've looked in the 'lotsa manuals' thread and can't find it) I have spent hours now trolling forums and search engines with no success - and no end in sight! Any help would...
Hey guys, I was thinking recently (I know its rare!) about how most of the bike wreckers I have dealt with in the past are all "behind the counter". Where you go to them, request a part - and they dig around the back for the part and come back to you at the counter. Are there any "pick-a-part"...
I went for a ride last week and stopped in somewhere to have a coffee. When I got back on my bike I headed off down the road and noticed that my speedo, odometer and trip meter were no longer working. It actually made for one of my best ever rides as my speed was no longer monitored by numbers but...
Hi, what type of battery do the Suzuki RG150s take? cheers
Hi, I recently had the carburetors re-jetted on my '01 SV650s with a Dynajet kit - it runs quite a lot leaner than before with the jetkit and tends to reach a lot in the lower gears, which is not really a bad thing as I get awesome fuel economy out of it and it doesn't surge anymore like it used...
