    XL250 Motosport for sale

Looking to sell a 73 (maybe 74) Motosport. One owner since 1974, used but not abused. Looks to be complete and a reasonably straightforward restoration job.

I think you might like to edit that price....it'll be a long time before it's worth 100k

Yep 1 k, that's more like it. There's been a few on Trademe lately. Anywhere between 2 to 4 k (for a really good one) but this ones a bit rusty looking so priced about right. What people don't seem to realize is how much bikes cost to restore...chroming has gone through the roof lately. I had one of those in the 70's, they're a cool thing and one of the best looking trail bikes from that era. I did over 30,000 km on it and would like another one but alas my garage has met it's expanded limit unfortunately.

73 or 74 ?... if the barrel under the exhust pipe has no fins its a 73... from 74 on they had small fins on the cam chain tunnel..
of course it could be the first 73 sold new in 74...

This one is the second release with more fins on the cylinder. The shield on the muffler is slightly larger and it has the plastic case on the instruments rather than the metal as on the original. If anyone wants more photos please email me western_rail@xtra.co.nz

There is a fella here who rides one everyday to work and back, every week he has offers from people wanting to buy it. Highest I have heard is 3 and a half. He will not sell it though.

It's not ... going by the rear frame behind the seat .. it was a farm bike. It was usual to have a mud flap at both ends. The rear one usually got knocked/melted off by the exhaust.

I owned one myself in the 70's ..

Another one of my strange but yet,I think funny true stories.
I was on a trail ride early 70s with a few mates,at the back of the pack. Behind me came 'dusty' of 'leda leathers' fame on one of these XL250 motosports. He didn't appear so I went back looking for him. Found him down by a creek just sitting there. He said,I got a puncture, I said, gotta a kit ? Dusty in his dry way said nah ,
    but I've got a beer !
He proceeded to unwrap two bottles of beer from a bag on the back!
The rest duely arrived to find us sittin having a beer !!!!!

so funny if you know Dusty.

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..
