Just seen this thread, some good info in here, am thinking of doing the Exhaust cam advance thing, the 22c carb mod, airbox mod and uni filter, plus have a lexx exhaust on the way

Should pick up a good 10% increase with all that I hope

LOL, I guess I must be just be greedy then, BTW if the KLR gets to much for me I could always ride the other bike next to it (though its not as good an all rounder)

The rear swingarms look good nowadays in black. Tht screen looks a better option than the stupid stockers.

I don't miss mine but had good times on it.

They are good mods and well worth it, but 10% is a bit optimistic I reckon. They won't do a thing for the top end rather just increase the mid range making the engine even more tractorlike and very forgiving.

Agreed. The exhaust cam advance is probably the most effective. I haven't touched the carb on mine, just removed the airbox snorkel and put on a GXSR muffler. (that's a genuine 2.5 kg weight saving alone).
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

been reading up and I think to get the full gain you need to add the KLX needle kit from Mike plus open up the air box, he has seen 7- 10% with these mods on the dyno (I think 7 on Gen1 and 10 on Gen2 ?)

IME you tend to get bored eventually whatever you own, answer to that is own 10 or so bikes and rotate them (or so I'm told )

Yes screen works well with these mods and is better than the KTMADV one now, bike is more comfortable also especially with the NE seat and Suspension mods, so far I'm finding this version of the KLR a great allround bike and think it will be ok for some long haul stuff as well once we get the 16T sprocket and and perhaps steal the KTM top box

Yes sounds like a good plan. The only thing wrong with Gonzo was its top heaviness & my habit of dropping it. My bike now is prob very similar in all ways as far as weight/ speed/ coolness but holds its weight down by its cankles

I'm guessing your not super tall, For me KLR is a light wieght compared to the 950 and I hardly notice its weight at all offroad by comparison

Ridden a few boxers though and will agree they carry their weight very low combine with a low seat height that would be an ideal combination for offroad
