No, it's because the bureaucrats are coontz, and motorcyclists seem like a good minority to pick on - no worries about race, religion or sex.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

My Volty has a top speed of 109kph.

In controlled conditions on a closed road, of course.

My Aprilia RS250 was a bit quicker than the above. was good for 167 when the red gear change light flashed. In 3rd.

Oh I wish I still had that bike

How much did you toy with it? I had two Spadas that did 150 or 155 with a raging tail wind on the flat and that wasn't more than a few hundred rpm off redline and well past the power peak. 175 would be significantly over the limiter on standard gearing.

managed to get my 2008 kwaka ninja250r up to 165-168 a couple of times. It's stock, no modifications. Really wanna see if i can push it to 170 but usually run out of road by 160 and need to slow down.

I think you guys are providing strong arguments as to why the learner bike legal rating may be reduced from 250cc.

I am not in favour of this however I am in favour of more thorough training to help save lives through missadventure.
They have a fairly top speed but they really take a loooong time to get there.
Once you get past 100kph acceleration is very slow.

Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

My wee '89 bandit is actually pretty peppy above 100, I"ve gotta be careful at times.

Not sure of top speed, haven't pushed it that far yet.

It's not a 250, however on my CT110 I managed to crank to about 70ish kph on the flat with no head wind.

Haven't tried down a steep hill, I don't dare, cuz the brakes are crap.

I think a power to weight ratio system should be introduced.

I toyed with it enough. It had 34hp at the black round thingy when I sold the useless thing. The standard gearing on a spada is good for a true 163km/h when you have a 140/70 on it, 140/80 lifted it a wee bit and killed what small amount of forwards motion it had As I said, indicated speed. With a standard size front tyre the speedo on them is very accurate, ofcourse I had a different size.
Not 250 related but my Bros650 did over 200km/h [just] over the flying quarter with some rather tasty pieces on it.

On the speedo around 165-170kmh on the spada, thats flat on the tank on a long straight, when I slowed down I heard the engine had developed what was the beginnings of a death rattle..

Had a blat on a 97tls when living in nelson (with full exhaust, cams and goodness knows what else), "just open it up a little" says the owner, I don't think I was going all that quick but fuck me, every single car on the road was FLYING in the opposite direction..
