    Removing GB500 baffles?

    Hey there
I am thinking about removing the baffles on my GB500's exhaust. Has anyone done this to their GB and if so did the bike require retuning? I read that the bike may lose power but I have also read other forums that say it made the bike sound great - which is what I'm after. Was considering replacing the whole muffler but would prefer it if I can leave the original muffler on but make improvement to its note and performance. Cheers

typically you'll lose performance moreso in the lower end, and run a bit rich.

removing baffles can be done in any number of inventive ways, typically all of which are destructive - steel rod+hammer, hole saw, large drill, whatever butchery seems suitable

cheers thanks for that. Have decided against this. Am once again keen on the bore out to 600 and replace the whole exhaust. Time to start saving!!

I removed mine by buying an old one from the wreckers, removing the three rivets in the end and then removing the inner contents completely.

Holy shit, what a noise! Reverse megaphone ala bogan. Fantastic fun in the Mt Vic tunnel where a real burst of throttle has pedestrians covering their ears. Jetting was ok, but I also have a Mikuni 41mm flatslide and K&N

i did the same on mine...drilled the rivets then put a scissor jack handle
hook bit in the baffle opening and yanked it out.... made a nice deep
thumping tone and not at all raspy or harsh...bearing in mind there is still
a baffle in the box muffler under the motor, i had no noticeable loss
of power in the low to midrange as these motors have plenty anyway
but i did manage an extra 10km/h in top speed... easily able to reach the
    ton.
ive now got a stainless reverse mega and headers made by custom chambers
eliminating the heavy underslung box and twin wall headers etc
thus saving a lot of weight
but to be honest i far prefered the original system for sound and performance
(i will need to modify airbox a bit and adjust jetting to suit the new pipe)
i say rip into it...especially if your going to mod it later

I have a megaphone with removable baffles on my GB, intended for the cb400f I think, makes a proper bloody racket
