Yep, broken clavicle is not nice. I'm still healing mine from 3 and a half months ago. 8 weeks off work all up.

offering to buy the bike and parting it out would be a good idea. it had stainless steel extractors and a mint engine (imo) .

mirrors would be fucked to whoever asked.

and i did read the survival skills posts a few months ago. didnt rememberanything at the time. infact i stodd straight back up after rolling 7-10 times uphill and took my helmwt ioff lol

I have a few thoughts about my crash i wish to share.

I and even the Police officer have said that it wasn't entirely my fault. I was just a victim of circumstance ie; Not knowing the bike well enough. But then again, i should have KNOWN what gear i was in, and not assumed. Assumptions truly are the mother of all fu**up's :'(

2ndly; I'm Still fucked. I could lose my job over this too. Bone's aren't healing well, I'm sleeping and eating plenty and following the stupid "You just fucked yourself up, but here's a pamphlet of silly exercises best done in private, pamphlet"

3rdly: I'd really like help finding a good but cheap helmet. My income is the acc now, so it can't cost too much
Current helmet doesn't appear to be cracked on the outside, but I'm not stupid enough to risk wearing it.

You can get some cheap helmets that are actually quite decent - bout $120-150 for a hjc cheapie which seem to be quite good.

Just no, OK? Repsol didn't sponsor Honda until 1995, they were signed as replacements for Rothmans when tobacco sponsorship became so unpalatable circuits all over Europe were banning tobacco advertising.

MC22's came in 2 guises. Japanese market only from 1990-1993 and 1994-1999 in Australian spec. Nastro Azzuro and Repsol pre-painted fairing kits are readily available to replace crash damaged OEM panels and update the look. MC22s are popular throughout SE Asia and there is a thriving market in fairing replacement and repainting, including Tyga's RC211V kit.

The only Original Repsol ones were the MC28's. Crosbys/Red Baron had a new one in 1997 - $12,000, including race wiring loom and Titanium race pipes.....took 18 mths to sell

Put it in the gear you want to be when you drive out of the corner before you enter the corner,. Cornering, braking, changing the gears and blipping the throttle, all at the same time is a bit much, unless you are 100% sure of what you are doing. Planning ahead is good.

And sorry to say this, this was 100% your fault, no ifs or buts.

its difficult to type with one hand but here the story.

i was riding towards lyttleton using the back streets. in preparation for a medium left hand uphill bend i braked and changed down a gear..... i thought i was in 3rd, but i was in 2nd. i was leaning over while braking and accidentally changed into first gear which locked the rear wheel and lost control sending me understeering into the path of an oncoming car.

Would have only make 1000rpm difference if you were in 3rd or 2nd.... Knocking it into first is OBVIOUSLY bad.... BUT you should have felt it compression locking and pulled in a little clutch....
All good if experienced i guess.... Speaking of which, leave the braking while banked over to the really experienced!!

Thing is I once totalled a bike after 4 days of ownership... Ironically it was a $4200 CBR 400 Aero... Back in 1992 ish.

I lost the front on some slippery stuff in the wet. For years I blamed the tyre, road and the conditions. I never really learnt anything until I realised it was the fact i pushed the front outside the traction limit.... and only reciently found out that i should have been in a lower gear and applied a little more power, rather than shut the throttle when i felt it slip....
And the whole thing about "Riding to the conditions" means within yours,and your machines limit!

Now, good to hear insurence paid out, BUT don't expect a very good reception when it comes to your next bike! Your record will be stuffed for about 5 years!

I know this may well sound very harsh, but as they say, truth can hurt.
Really, if you trully learn from this, you will get another bike. Get some top instruction, and be a motorcyclist for LIFE.. Not just the NOW!

Heal up, and i hope your job waits for you (I have been very lucky with mine).

In the mean time, try and buy your bike back... you have really done a good job on it, but there are a few good bits on it, and the rest the scrappy will give you some money for.

Ouch bro, that sucks something fierce... Um on the helmet subject, I picked up an "Oxford OX-2" from Cycletreads about a month ago, and I can honestly say I am pleasantly surprised by the value for money! It cost $99, plus $29 for a tinted visor. Its comfortable, fairly quiet, light, and looks pretty good too! Go to www.cycletreads.co.nz for more info... Kinda looks like the Ghostrider's helmet I reckon!

After riding around town only for the last 3 years, i thought i was experienced....... Clearly not

Thanks for the helmet tips etc, My last lid has a whistle and a fair bit of wind noise..

And Scotty, Yea, the ducktail is knackered, possibly repairable as that part was damaged in the drop not the impact. It was a Tyga piece too =(

News on My condition:
The broad-arm sling used for these injuries is off. Been progressively spending more time with it off and doing normal things like washing dishes and folding my clothes etc. Still hurts and feels totally odd as if it's not there sometimes =\

I'm addicted to CBR's now And i feel so sorry for the bike like i've killed a friend, even tho i only had it a few days I was just beginning to like it, and like it alot. It sounded and looked totally Awesome!

At least i still have my other bike . Its a 2008 Sach's MADASS 125 and i love it to bits, i justwanted something more suitable for openroad speeds even tho the madass does 100mk/h just.
