    Custom tailtidy + warrant?

Did a quick search, nothing immediate popped out at me, so apologies if this has been asked before.

I did a custom fender eliminator on my GT250R and am wondering what is required to get a warrant.

I currently don't have a reflector or number plate light. Are they compulsary?

I'm thinking of putting coloured leds for the number plate light, is this a nicht nicht?

    Cheers

Yes you need a number plate light. Get one of those tiny LED ones. They're pretty cheap. IIRC it must be white.

And yes, you need to have reflector. Have a look at the VIR manual on the LTNZ site, it specifies the minimum size iirc.

true, I've still got the reflector and light from the operation, I'll jimmy them up temporarily until I sort out some way of making things look nice. Might try to find some reflective tape.

    Cheers for the replies

Just bolt it on for the warrant. I've an SV1000 with an undertail exhaust system, no plate light, no reflector. Don't really care that it's not legal, looks great.

as already mentioned, yes number plate lights and reflector are compulsory. reflectors are a couple bucks from supercheap or repco, for the platelight, get some of those led number plate bolts of trademe, they are a bolt, with the light in them, here is a link http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=267848008

Heh, picked up a pair of those LED bolts the other day, installed them, looks sweet... BUT...

Got pulled over by the cops yesterday at 1am (I'm on my restricted >.< I got a warning) They aparently don't light up enough of the numberplate, didn't help that my tail light was out.
I'm going to put some spacers, maybe some washers or c-clips to make them stand out from the plate a little more, a lot of the light was being blocked by the lettering on the numberplate itself.

A bit late now, but a mate of mine had a bike like yours, and just cut a piece out of the tail light. It worked really well, only showed red from behind and a small stream of white down (worked surprising well) and passed a WOF the next day.

Never heard of an LED light not giving off enough light, especially two of them..........perhaps you just mounted them badly as you say, weird.

Well I put in an LED tail light and straightened up the LED bolts so that they're pointing straight down (I had them 45degrees inward before) meaning the ambient red and led lights make the plate (what I think is) visible.
