Half the price of a GOOD fish and chip meal?

And petrol was 36 cents a gallon when I first started driving. (Less than 9 cents a liter for newbies)

Half a shilling. Which was half a florin. Which was a tenth of a pound...

    5 shillings did, yes...
It was a fortunate lad who had one of those. And didn't they go such a long way?

    No, five sixpennies make a half-crown (or ten thrupennies - or 120 farthings - or 60 ha'pennies...)

Scummy, mate, if you're talking CENTS and LITRES, you are a young whippersnapper...
Now that I'm older, I thought it was great that I seemed to have more patience. Turns out I just don't give a shit...

I accept there are members here older than I am... Even though I can remember the excitement of getting a rare ha'penny to spend at the local store, and feeding out hay from a Draft-horse drawn sled and my older sister sticking a pitchfork through her gumbooot. The telephone was on a party-line and had a crank handle, and we made our own butter and ice-cream in the churn. When I had my tonsils out it was done by the local Doc and I was put under with the old Ether mask.

What is scaring me is that I am now interacting with people born in the 90's and trying to comprehend that 1990 was 20 years ago!
You don't get to be an old dog without learning a few tricks.
