Has it occured to anyone that they may be refering to their spouse to make it plain that THEY are not there for a hook up and put things on a less predatory, more cordial basis?
Of course people talk about their partners and family...but from what I understand (and I have been following this thread with some interest cos its been highly entertaining!) the lady asking the question had ridden with the same group of people before, she was not interested in "preying on" ANYONE, had made NO moves on anyone or suggested a hookup so the comment that she should know that the ride wasn't a date ride was a bit out of left field and not surprisingly left her wondering WTF?

    You got it Sis!

Still none the wiser as to WTF. But have decided it is best put in the CBF file.
It has been an interesting thread though. Lots of opinions, what a wonderfully diverse bunch of folk we are.

I wish I knew how to multi quote on one post.

Let me see if I have distilled the basic thoughts from y'all.
    - It's all in my head Yes
    - it's not in my head, there is something going on with these guys No its all in your head
    - they fancy me and are trying to attract my attention Either that or just making conversation
    - they don't fancy me and want to set boundaries Why does a comment about a partner have to mean any of this?
    - they think I'm a player Your call
    - they are players and want to let me know WTF??
    - they treasure their partners and just want to talk about how wonderful s/he is Most sensible answer yet
    - it's just what men do
    .
FFS mentioning a partner or wife doesn´t mean they are hitting on you - it IS all in your head, some people mention their kids in every conversation they have what does that mean Sigmund Freud?? Possibly that they feature heavily in their thoughts or a conversation starter, if you mention your partner in a conversation are you making conversation or giving out some encrypted dating signal???

Agreed! Definitely think this whole saga has been over cooked to be fair.

You didn´t mention that in those exact words in the original post. That would be a bit odd.
