Good Times Scramble Final. 20 March.

Thanks barty, This is purely just a bit of a discussion point thats all.

We do want to run these things e.g Two moons night ride, scrambles etc etc. but we need input. Whats right, whats wrong etc.

Couldn't make it today for various reasons, but It wasn't cause I didn't like the first one far from it. All the events done by the Sandpit crew have been great (scramble incl), and it would be a shame to not run any of them again, they are all apreciated. Would be a bit gutted to not have another go at the scramble as did crap last time haha

When I was trying to get some people to go in for the first one nobody was keen, and I'm not sure why. Maybe they were unclear of the format, or thought it would be too hard out, I don't know but they just didn't seem keen. I gur

As a novice rider I really enjoyed todays format. My biggest concern is always getting in the way of other people but the classes worked well and most riders on the track were well behaved. I was suprised at such a small turnout as it's such a great event for all levels.

Special thanks to those that stopped and helped my mate Paul who had the nasty crash on the #30 Suzuki. He had a badly dislocated shoulder hence the groaning from the back of the ambulance. He had a bumpy trip to North Shore hospital and spent the afternoon there, he's home now. Big thanks too to the guy that drove his ute part the way home!

sometime the money gets alittle stretched with so many things happening weekend after weekend, so have to be selective on what events I do.

I think some people may be scared off by the thought of "racing" not just riding. For those who didnt make it, you missed a really cool, social day of dirt bikes. It was clear the emphasis was purely on fun not placings.

My 2 cents - Personally I would love to see a couple more (small and easy lol) jumps suited to learner MXers like myself.
Also maybe next time you could inlude a couple of free ride sessions throughout the day for the ultra learners/beginners to get out and just have a play/ride without the stress of the start etc - this might help get those along who are "aprehensive" about racing...

With that said, the track was perfect for us novice riders and the formatt gave me heaps of riding thorughout the day... I hope you keep these going, so to all those out there who didnt attend - give it a go next time and support the cause!!! You will love it!

Dear KTM boy,
I attended both Easy Scramble days and had the best time..

Events like these are what started the dirt bike revolution in the '70s, don't see why it can't happen again.....

I'm an old fragile MXer from waaaaay back and I wouldn't entertain the idea of "racing" MX again on the modern permanent tracks as the big jumps, while heaps of fun are just too hard on my old joints. This is where the easy scrambles come into their own, if there isn't a class for you to enjoy, then your either impossible to please or clinically dead.... I can't fault the cheerful organisers or the smooth, flowing, near flat grass track. I got all the riding I wanted and they even let me zip round at the end of the day for a few laps while the pegs and bunting were being taken down.
There were NO scary moments that weren't of my own making and at the end of the feature 1/2hr race I had a top rider come up to me and say "hope I gave you enough room as I lapped you" He did....
So, a very laid back, friendly day of social dirt biking.
As soon as the dates are out for next year, I'll write them in my dairy in indelible marker pen.

If there is anything I can do to help spread the word and get enough riders to make these events financially viable, let me know what it is and I'll do it......

In the mean time have a look on Mr Motorcycles website for their Maize Paddock series coming up soon.. Too much fun.....

Just a thought hows a bout a winter series as well for a bit of added fun and i think as lee said as long as the "race" wording is done in a way that it dosnt scare people off with time more will come the old saying "if you build it they will come"
And the idea of some just fun laps for those that dont want to be caught up in the race type lay out IE: the KB flat paddock club would be good as well

I had an absolute ball, was a great day and the 1/2hour features was awesome fun, its good to see alot of smiling faces at the end of it all. On a side noe two of my good friends were 'virgins' to racing before yesterday and both are absolutly buzzing about it now. Relaxed no pressure racing is the best way to cut your teeth into racing, some will love it and thrive and others will not but until you try youl never know. this sort of riding teaches alot of valuble skills and as a bonus you get to meet some really neat people. We who are involved with running these events all do it because we LOVE dirt bikes and we want to see the sport grow. The more input we get the better it can become for all of us.

Another well run event, I had and always have a good time at event's run by the Great people at the sandpit plus countless other helpers for the day.

I was the joker that drove your mates courier back to kumeu for you RJM, Glad i could help out, as have been in the same situation, and just glad that there are people out there, who will help out.

I was having a great battle with Chop on one of the races and also gutted i fell down infont of RedRider in the last race i had with him and he sneaked by and i ran out of time to get back past him.

I have to say that was awesome fun, was the feature race a 1/2hour, if it was I am please with my self, I was getting real tyred toward the end but wouldn't give in.
The guy with the fluro helmet on the 300 KTM he was awesome to watch, he just owned the track, and in the feature race I lost count of how many times he lapped me.

All in all a great day keep it up I will be back.
