So, took it to Manukau Auto & Tyre Centre (awesome guys btw). They reckon almost $300 to repair it.

Called BikeBusters and managed to find a mint condition rear wheel of a similar wrecked VTR250 for $150.
Wayne put it on the courier this afternoon, charged me nothing for freight and it'll be here ready for fitting tomorrow (Saturday delivery!).

Absolute champion that guy. Really did me a good deal on that one and saved my arse.

If you could find out who the roading company was, make a claim. I know 2 individuals who have been successful in getting money out of roading companies insurance because of crappy roadworks damaging their bikes.

Make a complaint to the roading authority (probably your local council) and claim against the contractor

They carry insurance for just such an event.

Yes, do this. Include a photo of your bike and what on the road (and where) you hit.

Let us know how you get on. The fact your Mechanic had just completed a full service and can attest to the wheels condition "before" the incident will be invaluable.....

That was my thought....
I did something similar at approx 120 on my CBR (at Manfeild). Yes, launched the bike!

I would say this actually happened after a deflation.... Said Deflation could have happened just prior to hitting the offending ridge...

Any chance there were two ridges?

I bent a front rim, not as bad a that on a piece of box section steel lying on the road at night, at about 80kph.
