hi
i have been told by several people that a zxr 400 motor will bolt straight in to a zxr 250c frame. anyone know how true this is? what else would need changing? any help appreciated
cheers Tom

bikes arn't mecharno...but who knows, ive seen a zxr400 to 750 conversion

I call bullshit on that one. Unless of course they can prove it?This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If you did change it you'd need to take all the electrics and gauges with it, also the carbs and the airbox. Already I'm starting to think that the airbox/carbs won't fit under the tank... the gauges are interchangeable, you'd need the CDI and charging system. I'm not sure how separate the looms are, but I'm guessing you're going to have to strip the two looms to make it work unless you take the switchgear from a ZXR400 too?
As said, It'd be easier to just buy a 400, you'll probably find there isn't much of a weight difference anyway, and the suspension and brakes will be much better than on the 250.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
according to the manuals my fzr 400 weighs 7kg more than my old zzr 250, and i'm pretty sure zxr 250s dont have twin front discs like the 400, so yeah brakes are much betterThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Actually they do have twin front discs. ZXR250 fair bit lighter (20kg) than the 400... Feels it too
It sounds impossible. Everything would have to be changed and then some.
