    Vets results:

Doug Dubach upheld the American’s old-guy contingent with a victory in the Veterans’ World Cup at Round 6 of the FIM World Motocross Championship. Dubach, who regularly uses Glen Helen to test his DRD exhaust systems, has spun countless laps around the windy circuit in San Bernardino, California. That familiarity helped him best New Zealand’s Darryl King by two seconds in the opening 10-lap race and over three seconds in the second moto.

Sweden’s Mats Nilsson worked his way onto the podium after a fifth-place start in the opening moto. The Yamaha rider sprinted out to the lead in Moto 2 but was quickly passed by Dubach who ran out front for the remainder of the day to close out his sweep. Nilsson held onto second until the halfway point when King worked his way past. The overall podium was draped in blue as all three riders were aboard Yamaha YZ-F machines.

Kurt Nicoll picked up fourth in both motos and came up one position short of the overall podium.Kurt Nicoll went 4-4-4 but had to struggle past a determined Ty Davis in Moto 2. The American off-road hero finished fifth overall courtesy of 5-6 moto scores – not bad for a WORCS and desert racer. Victor Sheldon managed sixth ahead of fellow American Drey Dircks. Shawn Wynne was 10th on his Honda, but can claim to have beaten Jeff Matiasevich who scored 11th (9-14) and Chuck Sun, 16th OA. Sun started near the top-10 in both motos but dropped a few positions in each outing on his KTM.

Dubach’s 50-point tally this weekend bumped him into a tie for ninth place in the championship standings, but Nilsson continues to lead the title hunt with 140 points.

tell Vege to get off it at this time of day, he tangled with Alessi for 2nd (more like Alessi took him out from what the message boards are saying in the US), then fell twice more before retiring, and he is riding a four stroke so it did not have a expansion chamber,

he set the fastest laptimes in both motos, its great to have him back challanging for wins

    Ben Townley on top

Ben Townley is firmly back on top as he surprised many by winning Moto 2 of the USGP this past weekend at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino. Making his come-back from injury with Troy Lee Lucas Oil Honda at Round 1 of the AMA Nationals in Sacramento last weekend, Townley wanted to use the Glen Helen Grand Prix to continue to improve his race fitness.

In the Saturday qualifying race BT101 grabbed a decent start and rode a smooth race to qualify in 2nd position.

As the gate dropped for MX1 moto 1 the number 101 Honda powered through the first turn in 3rd position, hot on the tail of Alessi and Cairoli. Townley proved to all he still has the shear speed that he is known for as he hunted down Alessi for the opening few laps. Making the pass on Alessi, Townley turned in at the bottom of a long hill and was hit by the KTM of Alessi, sending a frustrated Townley to the floor. Re-mounting and setting chase Townley then had a further fall which damaged his exhaust pipe beyond repair, forcing the New Zealander out of the race.

Lining up on the gate for moto 2 it was clear from his body language that Townley was on a mission. The gate dropped and as the charging field headed into the long first turn BT101 was up in the leading pack, which he quickly worked his way to the front of. Once out front the Kiwi was untouchable, pulling out a large gap on the field. Riding his own smooth race up front Townley was cheered on to what was a very momentous victory for him.

“It is such a great feeling to be back winning. I still feel I am not at the level I am capable of, and really I am still the under-dog for this year’s AMA Championship. We needed this race to work on some new bike settings and also my fitness in race conditions. I think winning the 2nd moto today showed that we are moving in the right direction which makes me happy and boosts my confidence ahead of next week.” Commented Townley.

Townley now heads to round 2 of the AMA Nationals, which is to be held in Texas next Saturday.

and the offers start rolling in LOL!!!

Man to see his name there above the other!! good aye!
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '
