Today’s Senior TT has been red flagged – for the first time in its history – following what early reports say is a major incident involving Guy Martin.
The incident took place near Balleygary, the ultra-fast section between Union Mills and Glen Vine.
A bike is reported to be on fire and a fire engine has been dispatched, although there is no news yet if any accident or injuries have taken place.
UPDATE 2.10pm
From Adam Child in the Isle of Man: "I've just spoken to two riders who went past Guy's crash immediately after it happened. They said the fire looked to have been caused by his bike setting fire to a bale, which had ignited a nearby hedge. Bits of Guy's bike were apparently scattered down the road. The guys said it 'looked like a plane crash'."
There's no more news on Martin's condition. He was flown to hospital with chest injuries. The Senior will now restart at 3pm and run over four laps.
UPDATE 1:46pm
Gary Pinchin in the Isle of Man: "I've just spoken to Guy Martin's team owner Wilson Craig. He told me that Guy was conscious, but was complaining of chest pain."
UPDATE 1:36pm
Two separate, but unofficial reports, state that Guy Martin is on his way by air ambulance to Nobles Hospital, Douglas following his huge crash, but add that he is “moving, conscious and talking” as paramedics treated him.
I bet he still has his mental sense of humour though, he'll have the nurses in stitches (pun intended)
