    Lightbulb Lean mean fishing machine?

    Hey guys,

I want to upgrade my motorcycle for fishing. Part of the reason why I bought my motorcycle was to give me the independence to go out and fish with my buddies, however I have a dilemma of carrying gear. I need to be able to carry a rod holder, a surf-casting rod (13'6) my tackle, a spare supply of petrol, first aid kit, a tent and spare clothing.

That's a fair amount of gear.

Here is my motorcycle (Suzuki GN250)

    So, any ideas?

Good luck with the fishing rod unless it breaks apart into much shorter pieces.

As for carrying that lot, I'd be inclined to get a pack rack which will take care of everything execpt the rod. For the rod, assuming it breaks down into shorter peices I'd be looking to mount a long tube about 15cm in diameter somewhere on the bike. Perhaps above the headlight or down the side of the seat.

Also how far afield are you going? Why do you need a spare petrol can?

Just get creative. A GN250 will do anything you ask of it, except 100mph

A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Yes, it breaks down into much more small pieces. I live in the Wairarapa, the beaches are spread out and there aren't many petrol stations out around the coast.

The towbars the best place - the bumper bars come off in your hands these days...

Get a pack rack for the rear and mount a vertical tube for the rod - tackle box on the carrier, 5l tank on the seat - sorted..

Or - you could invite me and I'd bring my corolla wagon and you show me where to fish ;-)

A bit of down pipe & end caps from the local plumbing centre for your rod with a bit of foam top & bottom to stop it rattling & cracking the eyes. I had a 6ft tube mounted on the frame of my old XT 350 for similar adventures. Not sure where you would stick it on a GN, cue lateral thinking. Tank bag, pack rack, bum bag for the rest.

Or - I dust off my surfcasting gear and the KB fishing trip is born.

used to carry 2 surfboards around indo on a 125cc for years. Made 2 racks up so that they would sit down the side of the bike. Could fang that wee motor no worries, until you got a strong cross wind!
    A nice Pit
