Cleaning gloves

My gloves smell

I think I'm doing something wrong with regards to looking after them.

My hands tend to get quite sweaty when riding.

What's the best way to wash/clean them? And how can I prevent them from making a stink?

Don't have the exact model, but Dririder leather gloves (with some kevlar, ooooo)

I had a similar problem with stinky gloves - leather, supplied by someone I better not name since he's here on this thread right now....oops errr I mean..heh heh heh...sorry Bret)...

Actually Quasi suggested I wash 'em out (I think it was your idea Bret was it?) which I did with soapy water. Took a couple days to dry out but they have been fine ever since. Prolly a good idea to apply leather treatment after the wash.

Before that I had tried hand sanitizer but it was totally fucking useless so don't bother with that idea.

Incidentally, my latest pair of gloves have yet to develop any pong. Maybe because it's winter...

To avoid this in the future, just air them out in direct sunlight every now and then.

Yup thats the trick, best let them dry out slow as opposed to fast via a heater, towel rail or in the sun, this kinda heat is not good for anything especially leather items.

Worked well for me - no pong ever since...and they didn't take all that long to dry either - I just hung them up inside. Dry in two days.

Otherwise, wear glove liners (silk or something like that). Easy to chuck them in the wash every week or two, and rotate a couple of pairs.

Mucho easier than trying to clean the motorcycle gloves

somehow the insides of my left waterproof leather glove got soaked after a downpour yesterday.. absolutely soaked..

now my left glove is starting to develop some nasty odour.. i might just chuck it into the freezer tonight and dry it out tomr.. maybe it will help?

A bit of rocket science for you - any foot odour remedy will work.

I spewed up in my gloves once and cleaned them out by soaking them in a bucket of soapy water overnight. Worked a treat.

I was real pissed one night at my mates place and he let me sleep on the couch as I was a bit too phucked up to ride the push bike home. I was on the couch, and I felt a sudden urge to vomit. I didn't have time to run to the bathroom, or outside so I had to spew up right then and there.
I could either spew up on the couch, or on the carpet, or in my back pack which happened to have my riding gloves in it. I chose the latter option.
