Christchurch - adventure ride (Sun 3 Oct)

For those that are keen there is a ride this Sunday (October 3rd) meeting at 9.30am at Sportzone Suzuki (50 Manchester Street).
We will be leaving at 10am and riding the North Bank of the Waimak to Springfield for a pie and a coke. Return will be via th South Bank for those that have the energy left. The ride will be open to anyone keen but of course you must feel confident in your ability to handle the conditions. I have been up and back recently and the South Eyre River was the only part I couldn't cross but you can get around that easily anyway. Call me (Dean) at work (Sportzone) on 366 0893 for further details.

I'll be along and with pillion at a more casual pace so long as my Daughter is keen to go with me on the back of the DR again, otherwise we will be doing other stuff I guess.

    Fingers crossed.
    Cheers

have they repaired the missing chunk of road on the south bank or did you have to detour round it on the road?

Yep the 'missing' section has been repaired, I had more trouble with a deep crossing on the south side which a quick riverbed detour soon had sorted. I hope with the recent good weather it should be a lot easier!

Will be there with a "For sale" sign on.
Are we taking in the various tracks inbetween or just following the roads?

I imagine it will be more the roads than the tracks in the trees but you'll probably be able to do the odd diversion I guess.
They usually aim to be hooking up with the roadies for lunch so I doubt they intend mucking about too much in circles at this stage.

I'm keen to have a stop at the mini hill climb challenge if anyone is interested, we could turn it into a wee comp? I was there a couple of weeks ago and the wee hill was in far better condition than previously attempted, should be a breeze!
I intend to do the North Bank on the best gravel we can find and the return journey on the South Bank will be aimed at doing a few more of the tracks as the South Bank can be a little harder to negotiate. We will have a slightly constricted
time-frame on the way there as we will need to meet the roadies for lunch but the return journey can be as long and as challenging as we want.

Departing Sportzone at 10am so I imagine lunch about 12, and we can take as long as we want to get back so some will be back a lot earlier than others. If you go all the way back via the river including the tracks to McLanes Island and there's more beyond that to Belfast) it can be made to take the whole day, or bail at the Intake or the next out and maybe back in 2 hours after lunch is done?

It's not an actual hill you know, just a step in the ground must be about the height of the roof here at work.

Sweet as, just do the first half of the trip (up the North Bank) join us for lunch and then head home via the inland road to Amberley and you'll be home with plenty of time to do dishes, lawns, washing and even give the Mrs a tickle!
