    Cog Sunday Classic Run

    Canterbury Monthly Sunday Classic Run.

First Sunday of the month weather dependent. We will postpone a week if the weather is bad.

Ted and I would like to kick this off starting at the Canterbury Museum Meeting at 10,00 for a 10,30 departure. We will not limit this to just vintage-classic bikes, just bring what you ride and have fun, or even better bring what ever interesting old bike is sitting at the back of your garage and have fun. Ted and I don't go much faster than 80 kph so where ever we go it won't be a fast trip (for us that is), mopeds might be a bit slow on the longer trips but scooters, vintage bikes, hell even old cars are welcome (at the back that is).

Dec 5th, Summit road, being a historic road that was made by hand by out of work people during the depression, if you look closely you can still see the hand tool marks in the rock faces, ending up at the Godley point WW2 gun emplacements (so bring a torch). You might consider bringing a picnic cut lunch and a thermos flask on this one. Ted says "Bring a torch so you can go down into the underground magazines. It's well worth taking an hour or so to do a little exploring around this historic park area."

Regroup points: 1, Halswell, cnr Sparks and Halswell rd's. 2, bottom of Gebbies Pass, across the road from the Blue Duck. 3, sign of the Kiwi. You don't have to wait here, espcially if you are on a slow old bike, or if you are mr Rossi but this is where the Leader and the TEC will meet and check that nobody has been left behind.

Jan 2nd, Out to Okains bay on as many of the back roads as possible for a visit at the Okains museum.

    http://www.okainsbaymuseum.co.nz/

I'm not opposed to taking the around bays and going over Gebbies, but its going to be a long ride at 80kph for me as is. There is petrol and a small shop in Okains bay. Again like last time bring your walking shoes, a lunch and some thing to drink. There is a lovely beach which is worth a look see. Okains bay is very popular this time of year so expect to see a few people over there. Just a note about the road, the drop down from the summit road into Okains bay is very steep, it's a first gear slog for my old bike and I have to be carefull I don't burn my brakes out going down.

Feb 6th, Trip around Christchurch ending up at Wigram museum.

March 6th, Trip around lake Ellesmere ending up at the Yaldhurst Transport Museum.

    I don't like rules BUT:

    1. Rider Responsibility
It is the responsibility of each and every rider to ride safely and within their and their bikes abilities. If any rider acts in a dangerous manner then they will be asked to leave. Remember, you not only put yourself at danger but also the other riders and the general public. If you do not understand this then do not come. It's likely we will have a big mix of bikes from vintage to modern pocket rockets bla bla bla

    2. Rider Assistance
At the car park we’ll ask that riders who would like some one on one help will be asked to put their hands up and we’ll ask some of the more experienced riders to provide that help. Please don’t be shy. This is an excellent opportunity to ride with and learn from people who have many decades of riding under their belts.

    3. Leader
This will be a slow ride but we will have a lead rider appointed each week. Obviously it will be someone with reasonable skill so as to not piss everyone off. Please give the leader a little space. If they are not going fast enough for you, then overtake and leave the group. We will see you at the destination. The leader will stop at the pre-determined regroup points and wait for the entire group to arrive before departing.

    4. Tail End Charlie
A TEC will also be determined as a safety measure. No body will ever be left behind on these runs.

    5. Rossi clones
If you wish to do your own thing then feel free, but please leave the car park a bit earlier, before the rest of the group!! We'll see you at the pub (and we won't expect some beers waiting for us when we arive). There's nothing worse than someone trying to be Rossi and carving up the slower riders to get to the front. You might think this is cool to do we think you are a dick. This is when accidents have happend. Leave first, ride hard and do not place the other's at risk. If we find you in a ditch we will provide first aid until the ambulance arives, but do not expect any sympathy on the web afterwards. If we find you talking to Mr Plod we will take and post photos or we will expect you to put your card on the bar for us to keep us quiet.

Disclaimer: Neither myself, nor any other participant is responsible for another rider's actions. Each rider is responsible for their own riding.

Most of this was copied from Pheonixgtr, thanks.

Ted and I always have a good range of tools, fuel, oil, water, puncher repair gear and a first aid kit in the side car, if we can help out please ask.

Hey Flip, could be keen to do this on my Bros if that is ok? Mr Triple can go on the back to have a pillion view for a change . The Bros 400 is not exactly a classic.. but as close as we have to it... aside from Mr Triple himself of course!! lol

    Cheers,

We that know him do consider Mr Tripple to be a classic. Also the Bros is fine. There was delibrately no conditions set on the bike or car you bring along other than you might have to ride in a group with vintage vehicles so be prepared for a slightly slower trip than normal.

We had an awesome time today... It was great taking the Bros for a spin and meeting up with everyone as I like the smaller groups. Hopefully we can be at the next one as well..

Sure it wasn't the random photographer?
The views expressed above may not match yours - But that's the reason my Dad went to war - wasn't it?
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, .... but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,... shouting "man, what a ride"!!!

It kind of happened that way. I posted in the classic section to see if anybody was interested then posted the first run here. However most folk saw the other and it has most of the replys.

Might see if a mod (yea yea yea) can add this to the other and kill this one.
