Restoring a 1986 Suzuki NZ250

The motor was based on a DR 250 motor. Perhaps same pistons?

Here a chap that tried to sell NZ 250 side covers last week but nobody wanted them. Ask him to re list or post on any of his other auctions:

The engine is actually based on the DRZ250, this being a DOHC engine as well.
However, with both being 4 valves heads you may find the piston and rings be the same as they have the same bore and stroke.

They both have different part numbers.

I had an NZ250S once. Loved it, a great wee bike.

I am spending a couple years in American Samoa. There are no motorcycle dealers here and it's tough to find people to ship motorcycle parts here. Anyway, I picked up a beater 1986 NZ250 and it runs pretty well but has alot of cosmetic issues as well as some mechanical. I was lucky enough to be able to buy a service manual for the bike off TradeMe before the cancelled my account for not being from New Zealand. I know this bike was made for New Zealand and Japan so parts will be hard to find.

Can you guys give me some advice on where I might look for parts for this old bike? I do plan to be making a trip to New Zealand in March and tour around a bit so any local shops that might have somew old parts laying around would be great too.

I know a guy with a NZ250 that is a bucket racer now, I will see him next weekend and see what parts he has and if he converted it from road to bucket or he got it already striped down

Hi there!!

I have a suzuki NZ250, 1987 It broke, and upon taking the engine apart, one of the valves is shot, and the piston is torn to pieces. Basically I need a new engine head and a piston...


The Vin number is NJ44A-101971 and the engine number is J414-101807.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, or if you pointed me in the right direction for this, it would be great. I think I have just sorted an engine head......... the Piston is the most important thing at the moment I do believe......
