    BMW K75 rear shock?

A mate has a stuffed rear shock on his K75 Beemer and doesn't want to pay the $1250.00 he was quoted for a replacement. Anyone got one or knows where to get one at a better price?

A bike wrecker ... pranged one's usually have the FRONT smashed up, but the back end ok ...

Most of the wreckers are aware of who's got what ... so a after a visit to one, it usually gets found somewhere ...

Also ... check out after-market ones ... often better quality and cheaper than original parts, for older model bikes .... old stock etc ...

No they aren't and are usually shagged at about 80km.I bought a replacement off Ikon Shocks in Australia and from memory it was about NZ$600 delivered to my door. Heaps better than the original too.
Never too old to Rock n Roll.

Is it all about price or does he want something that works well on our roads? With cheaper shocks there will inevitably be a compromise on how well it works. That unfortunately is a cold hard reality and also ( unfortunately ) the price of the replacement shock is not indexed to the depreciated value of the bike. Ikon will work okay but will not be stunning. The reality is the compliance and ride height control of the shock is pretty much indexed to its end price. As long as you know that then you wont be dissappointed!

Thanks Robert. I think you're right, it's more about price. He's 70 now but still rides with his wife on pillion so it mainly needs to keep the rear off the ground, if you know what I mean...
