Pity about the Venom - it's just got back into the air after many years grounded........

    Well....that was shit.

Been watching the planes all week from work and was looking forward to the day.

$100 to get in the gate, Then the weather packed in and we sat on the wet ground under a warehouse umbrella while the rain came down.

Got drenched as fuckerey around 2.14 so we pulled the pin and split.

What I did see of the flying display was pretty damn cool, and the static displays were all awesome. The kids were just arseholes, and the wife was completely uninterested.

With the shit weather you did well to get to 2.15 then.
I gather the $100 was a family pass.
Hadn`t heard anything flying until after 12, so thought it may have been put off.
Saw the Herc do a low turn over our place, and later the Mustang...and just now one of the twin boom jets.
Shame, and the forecast for tomorrow ain`t looking that good either.
    Let the good times roll

I've decided that it won't be a goer for me this year.
Classic Fighters at Omaka over Easter sounds like the go.
Bloody hardcase.... been a CPL since 1987, and NEVER been to one of the big name airshows. Got time for them now!

Yeah mate.... the Mosquito will be something else to see.
I've sat in the example at Mapua a few times... will be nice to see one flying.

    Mosquito

Sad to say but it's not looking good for thr mossie being at Omaka. My sons flatmate is doing the skin on it & is not confident it will be ready on time.
Also on a sad note I heard from a display pilot that the Venom will be written off never to fly again.
Bugger the rain & not looking any better tomorrow but organisers put on the best they could with what they had at their disposal with hopefully a better day tomorrow.
An amazing display from the WW1 aircraft especially.

an impressionable age looks like your recollection of events is slipping into fantasy and indeed slipping away

looks like we're piking tomorrow as well... we were gonna do the train journey over (mate doesn't ride and I wouldn't put the Prila through the pain of two manly figures )... on the bright side, I will still be drinking beer . Have fun
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

    .
It was always going to be a stretch to see the Mossie at Easter - realistically, I reckon it'll be the middle of the year, before it flies........I hope Bill Read has the Anson ready by Easter....
