Nice one mate, a day earlier and I would have done it with you, I ended up heading off on the Monday. Great to see you got some good weather in and made the most of the last open period

Giday mate, bet that new toy of yours was a lot less buzzy than your 250. I'm not a 650 owner but I could swear that's not where the tool kit is supposed to go

The man who took my money at the end of the rainbow said that the last weekend was being pushed out a couple of weeks till easter weekend on the request of molesworth who were planning on being open until then. Would confirm with doc if planning a ride though...

I found it the previous time I went through, its hard to see from the road and have to follow a little walking track down off the side of the road. Photo of it from last year...

Anyone got the day off tomorrow (Thursday 28th Apr) and want to go for a fang?
Thought I'd go for a squirt up the Waimak, over Porters Pass to Lake Coleridge then back via Whitecliffs and back down Waimak again.
    Plan to leave in morning

    G'day Matt,
What time you leaving - I have to be here for the kids rugby practice at 4pm so if you are planning early enough I'd be keen to tag along
    Cheers Crim

    Hey Crim,
Planning on being home by 2, if you are keen, meet me at Caltex Russley at 9 and we'll see how we go, plenty of places to opt out down the Waimak.
    See you there for gas

Well Crim and I had a good day out, went up the Waimak to the gorge bridge then on the seal to Porters Pass. I tried going up the track down in the valley below the pass but after having a wee lie down in the scrub after rolling backwards down a steep incline I gave up. Didn't look like any 4x4s has been thru there in a long time, the scrub has almost reclaimed the track which is now barely decernable.
From there we went the to the head of Lake Coleridge. More drama's there when I tried to ford a slighter deeper than I anticipated part of the Harper river and gave the bike a washdown. Luckily Crim had forgot his camera or he would have got some great shots of me floundering around in the knee deep freezing water.
Luckily the bike only took a few gulps and we managed to drain the water out of the airbox and exhaust without pulling the spark plug
Here's a couple of photos on the way up at the Waimak Gorge bridge, Lake Selfe and lastly at Crim at Coleridge where there was barely a breath of wind.
