Great pics mate, I was thinking what a day it would have been while I was tapping away on my keyboard at work.

Perfect day, last weekend of the fishing season, yet neither of you took a fishing rod

Funny you should say, because it was so calm we could see heaps of fish rising on Lake Selfe, there were 2 or 3 guys there chucking a line in...anyway we were too busy shifting shingle!

Lees Valley Sunday 26 June 2011

So I thought about making a new thread but decided ahhh feck it, might as well keep this one alive a bit longer.

Few people going through Lees Valley on Sunday with a 4 wheel drive and a couple of first timers (neither been in Lees/Okuku, one new to adventuring just got a KLR he wants to get dirty).
Expect to be a slow trip, fingers crossed for no rain.

We are leaving from Rangiora at midday.

How many are taking boats I mean bikes, I've got through the Okuku River when it was flowing at 2 meters sec. The river chart on the Ecan site is dropping but the weather forecast for the weekend looks like more rain.

Yea, been watching the river level but I've been through over 3 cumecs and heard or others doing it around 4 or 5. The problem is that it isn't or wasn't very accurate when below 50 or something like that. I see the notice isn't there any more.

We'll be fine and if we only get that far and back it will still be good.
The forecast keeps changing so we won't worry about that yet and see what happens on the day.

I'm in. The tranny spent 48 hours on its side after the last quake, so I'm just off to de-oil the air box etc. Big puddle of fuel/oil on the floor suggests it might be a bit of a mess.

What u waited 48 hours to pick it up. Ohh u are mean to your bikes.

Seems there may be some interest here so I suggest the usual meeting place of MOBIL Rangiora
    19 Ashley Street
    Rangiora

I hear a rumor that garage may be closing soon but somewhere there with the intent of leaving at 12 noon.

Even the mighty Birdman can't exert his telepathic bike-picking-up skills over 700km - I was in Hastings when the quake hit.

I can't make the Lee's Valley ride unfortunately. One of the olds getting even older this weekend.

My behemoth 25l tank for the EXC is now somewhere between the Home of the Brave and Un Zed. So I'm putting it out there that in approx a month I'm looking at organising a re run of the CCC (Chch, Cheviot, Culverden) ride.

    Cheers R

Slow trip - start at midday? although we are now passed the shortest day (or in it) so it should stay light until 7 by Sunday??

I am keen - am sowing the extra finger on my glove as we speak, Nordie can I borrow your banjo (pays to fit in north of the river)?
