That's a very good idea, think I'll do the same. I'm getting a little engraving tool too ...

Yeah, you should be able to ride around with no license and start house fires without being hassled by coppers

Anyone in ChCh know a good bike electrician?
My WR250R's battery appears ok but put a volt meter on the bike when running and it says we are not charging.

You might have blown your reg/rectifier. Check your stator for continuity and head downstream from there.

ha ha but that only happened on the other bike and it's fine.

I have other things I'd rather be doing than trying to muddle through this myself, I'd prefer to hand the job on to a decent motorcycle sparky.

If you want to you could bring it around to my place for a quick half an hour look over things to see if it's a simple fix. As soon as it gets too hard I'm quite happy to pass it on to more of an expert, but I dislike the thought of paying good money for someone to replace a blown fuse somewhere.
Riding cheap crappy old bikes badly since 1987

STOLEN MOTORCYCLE Oxford Canterbury BMW 650 GS - Yellow/ Silver
On Sunday 17 August, just outside Oxford on the corner of Oxford Rd and Quigleys Rd at 4.20pm by two or more guys in hoodies, driving a green Mitsubishi Legnum Stationwagon or similar towing a small white single axle trailer.
My bike broke down and was parked there from 3.15pm until my husband and I came back to pick it up with our Nissan Safari Truck and trailer at 4.25pm. There were cars behind us when we had to pull over. (A silver Ford Territory was right behind us) Those thieves saw us arriving and drove off in high speed. They were seen five minutes later on Tram Rd heading towards Kaiapoi.
Please contact Christchurch Police if you have seen anything???!!!
    0800 555 111 (FileNo 140817/8832). Thank you."
