A decent rear tyre and you'll be fine, there will plenty of pushers if you do get stuck, it may just cost you a few beers at the pub!

You cannot (shouldn't) get lost!! there are a couple of table top plataeu sort of areas to have a bit of fun on, the first one can dislocate your shoulder, the one mid way through has a nice wee hill climb challenge if you dare, other than that just follow the river and enjoy the refreshment at the pub.

    envious....not!!
I dared with the XR shod with E07's - was a tentative experience - we did the pub to pub run and was hooking into a jug of speights in what seemed
less than half an hour - not a very long run - mate bent his rim up on his XR on the granite

Couple of videos on youtube make it look like a typical riverbed with a mix of gravels and water. Think the 4x4's are further inland/upstream on the Waipara.

I agree so unless you're name is NordieBoy I wouldn't expect anyone to. I wouldn't, but would still have a crack at it on the Transalp if I had no other bike AND it had fresh E09's or similar on.
Will see you at the Waipara Pub for the rest of the ride.

With the rain we got last night & this morning will you still be doing the pub to pub run?
Anyone want to meet at the Peg and travel together from there?

Anyone know if this rain has affected the rivers much? I've done some
searching and can't find anything that lists current river levels or flow. Any
    ideas?

NordieBoy's tyre selection should be illegal, he rides near road style tyres in places I would only strictly use aggressive off-road tyres, and then the bugger never falls off We all know the story of how Robert Leroy Johnson sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads to be able to play the blues, well I think NordieBoy sold his common sense to the gravity god for unlimited verticalness

This is a good resource for water flow readings:

I've been watching the ECAN site for ever.
As far as i can tell we will be in the Waipara Teviotdale area and it's level has risen insignificantly in the last 24 hours... not that I know what a significant rise there may be but it's still looking quite low to me. January/February/March this year were lower and has not been that low since.
Waipara White Gorge is a ways up stream and I think we may be able to ride up there too (as the 4x4's did in one of those video links) but not this trip for me.

I will of course look again in the morning but at this stage I'm still going for a look at the rivers unless I find I'm by myself at Leithfield.

    Todays CCC Ride

Sorry we got split up at the end!
I was blindly following Pete, and we missed you guys turning off, then I lost him as well out the back of Amberley!
350km and I am knackered now!
Planned on a MX Ride at Greta Valley on Sunday, will have to see how I feel in the morning!
Getting too old for two days riding back to back....

    Yep, good ride.
Apparently combining the Leithfield to Waipara Pub river ride with the CCC wasn't such a good idea but I had a blast and it was a good day for it.

We left Carl on the first stage, bailed out the river is too soft for the DR would have been knacked for the rest of the day.
Waited for Carl at the Pub till 12 then everyone decided to get going, but that didn't stop him from beating us to Random Spur

We waited for you guys for a few minutes but you didn't turn back so we headed down Mound Rd and caught up with Pete in Amberley.
It was a good day out and the track is in better condition than last year.
