Well it's about time I got my feet wet with a ride as well. Will be my second time on shingle on the Pegaso (first on a hill)...so keen for an easier ride too.
See you all at the BP at 10.30
If it ain't broke...fix it till it is!!
All the stars are aligning for me today so will see you all at BP
Heh, I'm glad I was too tired and sore to do Jubilee and Bossu with you guys, the sky suddenly got real dark a coupla km before Tai Tapu and it started drizzling a little, so I had to pull over and switch back to my clear visor and chuck the rain cover back over my tail bag, but I still had time to stop for petrol and get home and halfway outta my gear before the thunder and heavy rain started.
Anyways, thanks for the ride guys, it was pretty tiring, but fun.
What a day!! Bit of everything thrown in there, rain, damp shingle, dry shingle, dry roads, wet roads, hail!! Glad to hear at least one of us didn't get wet.
The heavens opened at Birdlings flat and stayed open, until I got home...guess what...suns out now.
But it was worth it. Had a fantastic day out, thanks to all for their patience, has given me a lot of confidence on the seal and also a lot of confidence in the tyres I fitted.
Looking forward to the next ride already.
If it ain't broke...fix it till it is!!
Great ride today, thanks folks!
Great to meet a new face or two and some new bikes too
Long before the group I was following on the way home reached Lyttelton, I was firmly ensconced in a piping hot shower. Bloody brilliant!
Here's a coupla pics from the day, only 28gb of video footage to sort through now

What do you mean by the second Huruni River bit? If you use Random Spur Rd and Kaiwara Rd to get to Culverden after Cheviot (or even without Random Spur) then you have effectively a version of the CCC loop.
Some talk of doing that in a few weeks but don't let that stop you.
