Four of us went for a ride today. Three wound up in Port Levy. On the way home, Dave (Subike) scratched his bike and injured himself. He described the injuries as "merely a flesh wound" and proceeded to give us further lessons on cornering on the way home.

The full action replay on video will be posted soon.
Ouch!.. Hope neither rider nor steed is too badly damaged, and that both make a speedy and full recovery.

You can't keep a good man down for long and shortly after laying down in the middle of the road for a rest, Subike was up and running once more and giving me cornering lessons.

Considering SB has only had the bike for about five minutes, he was peddaling it rather quickly. I think when he has a few more K's and some decent rubber on it .................

Anyway .................. as promised ............. the vid.

And remember ...... if it hasn't got one of "Uncle Flip's" prosthetic kickers it isn't a real motorbike!!!

For those of you like me that only want to see Dave wipe out, the accident is at the 7.20 mark.

Looks like I missed a nice ride.

A graze on the right shoulder, a good bruise, one broken flasher lens, 2 broken foot-pegs, a cracked headlight shroud. all cosmetic and fixed at home in 20 min.
Front wheel locked under braking into the corner, bike is new, only 225k on the clock , so the brakes were grabby as,
and those cheap as Chinese tires??
I have to agree with everybody who has ridden on them, shit!
The back one is OK, until it gets wet possibly. probably because of its size more than quality, but that front one has to go....
If it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game

    Cheers for sharing Gloplg

Never nice to see one of group go down
Glad to see Subike bounces well , know what ya mean about those tyres!...mate dropped his little scorpio @ 35kph!...there was no reason for it go down, then I borrowed the bike...NOT confidence inspiring tyres at all (cheng shin I believe)
I convinced him to slash the bloody things and put some good rubber on...totally different bike!

Take care all (was so nice to catch up for the BBQ-(some pics)

Get that tyre sorted or is that pushing it? nah Jokes aside, I'm glad it wasn't serious... I may have had to get the nurses uniform out! .

Hi out there in Kiwi Biker world - we have some spaces left on our heavily ACC subsidised training courses this weekend for new and experienced riders alike.

Both courses cost only $50 each for four hours of small group training

Slow pro (Sunday)is for those wanting to improve their slow riding skills essential in chch peak hour traffic, emerging intersections, filtering through traffic and generally looking like you know what you are doing when you pull up at the lights! We also cover emergency braking technique and some evasive techniques for when that car driver breaches your right of way( like they do every day!) We do this off the road on a big car park and is lots of fun as well as good learning.

Kick-start (Saturday) is for those just completed their basic handling skills test and want to move on with their new bike and get to grips with it on the road in a controlled and helpful way with an instructor rather than a friend. Covering basic gear changes, positioning, cornering and counter-steering among other things. Maybe you know a nube who could benefit?

We have other courses for more experienced rider you also may be interested in.

Call us now on 0508 863 748 or visit our page for more info and book today - these subsidies wont last long!

    D
Seems now would be an appropriate time to recommend Duncan's courses. The intermediate course Torque was great and I'll be doing Apex in a few weeks. Hope to see some of you there!
