Ninja 250 2009 - no centrestand?

alright, so i obviously didnt pay as much attention to the bike as i should have when i bought it / didnt do enough research - i kind of just assumed it would have one like my first bike, a GN250...

so i guess this means i have to go and find/buy a rear stand to clean/lube the chain, etc, correct? Anyone have any advice or tips? Where's a good place to get one / how do I actually use one / etc?

You've got a kickstand, no centre stand, bit of a difference
Trademe is a good bet for something cheap and decent, look for paddock stands

and i have no idea what a bobbin is, im gonna guess it something to help with using the rear stand, google here we come!

Some Evotech crash protecting bobbins and other assorted bits for your bike are available here Yeah, the bobbins allow you to use the fork attachments on the stands. They're a bit easier to use and probably a bit more stable than pads

Yeah, that's all good. Just try and avoid the seemingly common noob mistake of taking the bike off the paddock stand with the side stand up

Umm... yeah, I mean with the side stand up and thus the bike would fall over. When you put the sidestand down, that's when the bike will rest on it

Don't need a center stand. I'm sure they're handy but you can get by without one.
1) Get a mate.
2) With side stand down securely and bike in neutral, stand to the left front half side of the bike.
3) Grab under around the middle of the bike right hand side.
4) Pull towards you, causing the bike to be levered up onto the side stand and front wheel.
5) Now your mate is free to spin the rear wheel and spray chain lube all over your chain/foot.

You don't "need" a centerstand to lube the chain. Having to move the bike to get access to the next bit of chain is more difficult than not but it's hardly an insurmountable challenge.

I do this, but I substitue a mate for the jack out of the boot of my car, place it under rear suspension, works a treat! And your foot stays clean
