42nd Traverse, Forgotten World Hiway ride

Left on friday and the weather wasnt the best buy far pissing down, but that didnt stop us.
Gloves had set up a ride with two of his mates from blemhem plus three of us from the coast five in total set off from Waikanae via Shannon, fielding and up through hunnerville to Ohakune and then onto the National Park and the 42nd Traverse to reach Taumarunui motor camp by nightfall.

Light rain by the time we reached shannon and had a good run through up to hunterville.
Pissing down in hunterville but cleared up on the way up to Ohakune and onto the 42nd

The 42nd was cool fun but wait a minute what about the river crossing, last time i was in there it was easy not more than a puddle but not this time round it was a rageing river flooding out and man it looked deep

    Pics to come

A great ride! I hope you got a photo by the sign that says: "last gas for 150 km".

You need to remember the stream is fed off the mountain and that's a huge catchement area, care is needed when it rains in there.... it's just up the road from the stream that caught out and killed the school students a few years ago.

Great area to explore tho, lots of beautiful country and interesting terrain, where's the pics of people upside down in the water?

Mate, you gotta get into Kiwi Rd sometime and check out the tunnels... turn left of the forgotten hiway....feral country in there...
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

Hi Shane, First run out for the newly re-built, re-worked, re-piped, re-braked, re-everything KLR!
How did it all hang together on the long trip?
Looking and sounding sweet I bet!
