What i really wanted to know since Yamaha don't go over 1mm then is the 2mm reliable and who does top quality re-bores and crank rebuilds?

Have a chat with Hugh at BOSS Engineering Ph 06 348 9516 he has done a few oversize jobbies on VMX bikes without probs.
He also does re-sleeving back to original size as well as offering rebores, hones and crank rebuilds. But discuss it with him first and go with your best option.

I very nearly bought an RD400 as my first big bike after coming off my learners.Walked into the dealers with a deposit and me mum as the loan securer.Didnt take more than two steps into the doorway and clapped eyes on a freshly traded in RD250LC and the rest as they say is history. Now looking back I wish i'd gone away with the 400.

    I remembered this thread

It has a lot of Yamaha stuff.
I has a few ideas for OS pistons.
So they say 2 stroke's lack bottom end. Well I personally have no issues with that
