Date: Saturday March 3rd 2012.
YES ON MOTORBIKES.
I want your help in making this event happen and to be successful.
Some of you will know, Tony Mills (ynot slow) is dealing with Terminal Cancer at the moment.
He is the inspiration behind this Ride Relay. (non stop)
Tony knows about this ride, the Cancer Society know about this ride, they are both are really happy to help in anyway they can.
March 3rd 2012. Is the date that the Cancer Society will be holding a 24 hr walk/run relay on the North Shore to raise money. (Nationally on other dates)
http://www.relayforlife.org.nz/event/event?EventID=128
A group of us will have a team entered in that event on the day.
A Baton Ride Relay will commence from Wellington to the North Shore at the Millennium Institute of Sport & Health Antares Place Mairangi Bay Auckland ...(not asking for any fund raising) on the date mentioned. Saturday March 3rd 2012.
Start time 7am
PM’s were sent out last night to twelve people who I would like to be the Baton Buddy’s
The response so far from those pm's have been amazing..
Each and everyone of you can ride as much or as little as you want on the day.
Paul (Paul in NZ) will kick things off from Wellington.
The Batons will split at Sanson, one heading North West to the Taranaki.
The other will head East to Palmerston North and onto the Hawkes Bay.
We will get the batons to you.
All official in accordance with the Cancer Society. They are behind this 100%
Something Maureen Miller from The Cancer Society said in her email.
''My Dad was a motorbike enthusiast, in his later years he used to ride down on his old Matchie to the vintage get together in Pukekohe. Think one of his biggest thrills was when he got to ride the Isle of Man TT circuit on the back of a distant cousins BMW. As a child I got to know places like Cust and Wanganui well''
She is over the moon with the idea of this ride.
Remember, this ride is something we can all do for Tony.
More info will be added when I think of it.
Any question? Feel free to ask, if I can answer them, I will.
Mark.
