80s XJ600 parts, hard to get?

Im looking at a XJ600 which I can get for next to nothing. Its been dropped on the left and taken out the pulse generator and stator cover. Are these hard to get these days?

It needs a tone of other stuff but these are the parts that concern me to get.
    Some people think im bonkers.

You're looking at a bike which came out in 1984 so 27 years old, heaps of bits on Ebay and the earlier XJ550 motor is basically the same

XJbikes.com has all the info you may ever need (if you can find it)

If you don't get it I would be interested as little bro bought one which needs a few engine bits

They all do that sir...eventually. I saw two in one year back in the day including Jacqui Madelin's one....

If I did one for post classic racing I sure wouldn't use stock rods.

Never heard of it in any of the XJ550/600 engines in road use and haven't ever seen anyone comment on it in the XJ forums, but you sound like just the man to throw at at and sort it out

Not sure if I will even be at the track Jase but if I am I will bring a pie and coke just for you

There are still quite a few on the road .... as they are/were popular bikes. But before you buy ... check it is still in the system ... ie: rego (or proof of in the past) can be checked. As a new VIN may be required ...

Parts though are still available ... Check wrecker web-site listings.

Yes needs Vin. But this guy has owned it from 97 and still has the change of ownership into his name. Bike could be mine for $250. But needs a stack of work done on it. But sat on it and instantly felt a great position.

Needs stator housing, pulse gen, fork seals, front and rear brake pads/seals, 2 tyres, etc

Body work is average with lots of scratches. Old guy owns it and rode it every day for a year back in 98. He then had a stroke and couldnt ride. It was ridable untill early last year when grandson took it down the road and dropped it. Its done a bit 20k.

PROOF OF PAST REGISTRATION is required fo VIN ... not of ownership ...

If past rego proof is included in the ownership ... all good.

Parts should not be an issue. I see a workshop manual for sale on trademe (Motorcycle - Parts. Search -XJ600 )

If engine/chassis numbers MATCH the papers ... sweet ... !!! Having the plate is over-rated ... (wont hurt though)

Shouldn't be hard to get XJ550, XJ600, YX600, FJ600 and FZ600 are all basically the same motor although the XJ600 turned into the Seca 2 which is a bit later and slightly different

If it's got a plate there shouldn't be any problem
