    Dumb question

So I have been riding for 18 months and occasionally when a guy or gal passes me they stick their foot out ... Is it a friendly 'hello rider' or have I upset them somehow?

It's an alternative to the wave. It is 'hello, fellow rider'.
Who knows, they may not want to release the bars at that precise moment...

They forgot they're not standing still and almost put their stand down, I do it all the time.

Do they put their legs out like this?
If it couldn't hurt it wouldn't be fun.

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy a motorbike, and that's pretty close.

They're old. They've pissed themselves. They're letting it out.

well if you don't want to release your hands would the next option not be to do the mighty head nodd?

It's very common in Europe, raising the left hand when coming the other direction, sticking out the right foot when passing.

here in NZ it seems to be the head nod, haven't been passed yet ;-) Only been riding for a few weeks here...

it always amazes me that so few people respond to my waves.. I've been waving since the 80's :P

Mind you, anyone who is old like me is probably concentrating on riding, since we have lost the ability to multitask.. so if you wave or nod to me and I dont reply, its not that I'm snobbing, I probably just missed it :P

"Shake a leg, youn' fella! You're in my way!"

Either that or "Ow! Ow! Leg cramp! Oh look, a fellow rider..."

    Run for cover !!!

    It's a waving thread !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

This thread is all backwards, it does not ask why some people don't wave. Instead it asks why people do it funny.

Fuckin wierd man, really fuckin wierd.

I got ignored at least four times last night when I waved and nodded. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
