How bad are wheelies for a 250?

Watching my friend do them on his GN250 the other day looked like heaps of fun. Only trouble is I've heard from some people that 250's don't have strong clutches compared to the 600's or 1l bikes and it's really bad to do wheelies on 250's?

Can anyone confirm this or can I practice some clutch wheelies on my little Spada with no major issues, aside from hurting my limbs and ego

The problem with wheelies on little bikes is you need to slip the clutch at high revs to pop it up.

Your clutch, gearbox, chain and sprokets are not designed to withstand the strain. Unlike the bigger bikes.

Plus side is there is less weight to be lifted...

GN 2 fiddys are great wheelie bikes
Don't be shy, give 'er a go, fork seals are cheap, and they don't die straight away. They'll handle a bit of punishment.
Don't worry about breaking shit either, it's all built to handle the hp your monster puts out ...

Very carefully.

if you have the technique right, and dont slam the front down afterwards, it isnt too bad. If you really fuck it up, look at ducatilover's recent threads to see what can happen.

If you do it right, the only things you are really likely to damage are items that wear out eventually anyway, and that are pretty simple, and cheap, to replace at home, clutch plates, fork seals and steering head bearings will start to go if you get a bit rough, and will eventually go even if you nail it every time eventually.

Wheelies are fun, just dont go doing them up the main street, go find an empty big carpark to practice in, after work hours where the only thing to get hurt is your bike and your pride if it goes pear shaped.
