Carb cleaner additive

Do they work? Can it be used in a motorbike? I've used them in cars I've owned with varying success.

On an Americian bike related site I sometimes browse they swear by some stuff called Seafoam. Don't know if you can get it here tho.

I think that's a degreaser, not a fuel additive buddy.

There's an alternative to any of the so-called fuel additives that claim this-that-whatever....

Run a couple of tankfuls of either BP 98 or Mobil Synergy 8000 thru your bike every now and then. The synthetic fuel and its additive package is as good as, if not better, than any fuel system cleaning additive you add yourself.

Just be aware that the properties of this fuel will also clean out the inside of your fuel tank, so if it's cruddy you may want to be prepared with a new fuel filter. I found this out the hard way

and you'd have thought that after the years I've been in the fuel industry I'd have thought the above thru??

Have used Motul Carb cleaner in the past and it worked a treat.

But as casper has said nothing bets good fuel and dont forget to do your fuel filter.

New fuel filter on standby, huh? Noob question: Are all fuel filters the same or are they bike specific?

They are bike specific as some have inline filters and some have intank filters so depends on your bike as which filter you have.

The one on Ebay is the same as I put in the honda cost me Bugger all from the local bike shop.Any decent bike shop will be able to sort you out,you could use the one on TM if fits and you wanted too its up too you really.but cheak with the trader first.

Depends on what you are trying to dissolve.

A bit of methanol say 5% and a squirt of valve master does in most varnish deposits.

Valve master is the magic petrol cleaning additive, they found by accident that it prevented valve seat recession. The dose rate for VSR is about 50 times the strength necessary for as a fuel system detergent.
