    My father:daughter weekend

Had a nice weekend taking my daughter away to the forgotten highway. I have done it a few times but she really wanted to see it.

here is a link to my blog...

Perhaps if any one has has done road trips with the daughte/s you could post some pics here. I enjoy seeing other dads doing this kind of thing.

The daughter I had with me at the time I did it ... was not mine ... and the father is still alive.

So no pic's will be posted.

Obviously both of you's enjoyed it ... well done. An interesting road.

    Seems like long ago...

Taking the daughters on trips was one great part of riding. Before returning to NZ I had 10 years riding in the US and took the girls on a few substantial trips. Longest was from Philadelphia to Breckenridge, Colorado in 3 days... getting on for 2000 miles by our route. Longest day was 830 miles. My youngest (about 18 at that time) was a champion passenger, though this was her first time on the bike. It was pretty comfortable mind you and we didn't get off freeways until the 3rd day, but then it go going seriously which she really enjoyed as well. Had helmets with tunes and comms between rider/passenger so that was fun chosing the music etc. The bike was a K1200LT which I brought back to NZ and eventually traded last weekend with 220k on it.

The first attached photo is of a ride with her out to Gettysburg, PA on a hot Memorial Day, picked up some subs at subway and had lunch near Camp David on the border of PA and Maryland. Great days, great girl... her mum just left this a.m. for Philly to be at the birth of her first baby. The second is of my two daughters, the elder did a great trip thru West Virginia to Mt Storm and back through AMish country.

Riding with daughters... one of the highlights of having bikes.

Good stuff Roger, its a great ride out to there, one time when we went out that way, we bumped into a another KBer that had lost the group he was riding with.
We joined in the search for about 30 mins..had a coffee somewhere...no cell reception....we later found with them at the pub in Waiuku.
