Well I striped most of the engine today. Looks like the piston gave up. Or it could have been the pin. Anyway I now have the old engine in and ready to go racing. Also thanks to Boyle Kawasaki I have a new bottom end to build a new engine with. Crank is salvageable valves are bent. Barrel will need a re sleeve. It will be back better and faster than ever for the GP.

Isn't there some rule about that sort of thing with "real" race bikes? It probably wouldn't hurt to encourage 4-stroke riders to put something in place. We could start with FXR riders. It may also be advantagious to have some sort of scatter shield or blanket like on drag race transmissions. Could be a use for old bullet-proof vests.
