    2003 Yamaha FZ1

2003 Yamaha FZ1 in excellent condition. This bike is an american import, and the odometer is in miles. 280000miles (~45000km) on the clock.

Comes with yoshimura Muffler, crash knobs, ventura packrack and heated grips

I've owned this bike for about 4 years now, and have decided it's time for a change. Bike has been well maintained with oil and filter changes every 3000 miles. Valve clearance was done at 26000 miles, and all were found to be in spec. Wheels have been newly powder coated approximately 1000 miles ago, and had new wheel bearings installed at the same time. The brake rotor bolts were all replaced at the same time. There is a wave rotor on the rear wheel, as the original had somehow become warped.

The air induction system, which is yamaha's emissions control, has been removed from this bike. It cleans up the top of the engine, making maintenance much easier, and also reduces backfiring on deceleration.

Rego has just been put on hold.

The bike is a carbureted model, and is imported from America. The 2001-2005 FZ1 were all carbureted and are the same world wide, aside from colour schemes. The 06 and newer are the injected models.

So have you put custom plates and vacuum fittings on when you removed the AIS? Otherwise you could have leaks with the carbs.

I personally never had a problem with it (ais), came in quite handy keeping the bike docile and torquey until the exup opened up. Most of the backfiring with the FZ1's was due to the side stand switch getting crap in it (or breaking).

There are plugs in the engine block where the ais used to mount, and rubber caps on the airbox and carbs. I made this change almost as soon as I got the bike, and have ridden about 15000miles since without any leaks or other issues. Removing the ais is a common modification, and there are many kits available to do the job. I didn't feel any loss in ridability after removing it, and find the engine looks cleaner, and is more accessible now that it is gone. Removing the spark plugs for example is now a 10 minute job without having to work around the pump and hoses, whereas the first time I did it, it took me nearly 45.

I used to have the FZS600 and very nearly bought one of these but opted for my current ride.

However, I am still keen on these and was wondering whether it was still for sale?

Or edit the first post by adding the word SOLD to it...

It's not letting me edit the post, but I have at least deleted the ad from the trader.
