As a responsible adult who can cope with the idea of more than 2 options, I like the idea of having more brands involved.
THe Ford/Holden binary is lowest common denominator IMHO

Of course they would but so what,Its not about Ford or Holden its about money.Personally i would love it to stay the way it is but theres no way thats happening,bigger audience means bigger $ its that simple.

Fair enough. Me personally, i have gotten a little tired of the same old holden vs ford routine, when in fact they are not really holdens or fords underneath. Still enjoy Bathurst though.

What would be cool would be an 'open' series with a lot of different tracks around the world, some fast and sweeping for the big power cars and some tight and winding for the pocket rockets (dreaming here...I know the logistical issues). Limited regulation in terms of how the cars can be modded or set up. Would make for some great racing IMO.

Holden and Ford should be frightened about opening the door to the Jappa's again, or the Euro's for that matter. Audi would build a fucking diesel family saloon that will out perform their tanks. If Nissan were to be able to run the R35 GTR I think it would be an absolute SLAUGHTER.
If Audi and BMW were able to run V8's they could put BMW m3 and Audi RS5 derived race cars into the mix. I would put $100 on them for the win every year.

The amount of money and engineering power behind german manufacturers is staggering compared to what Holden Oz and Ford Oz have access too. They are big tubs of lard compared to the germans but they're bloody entertaining and it's actually quite amazing what the Ozzies can do for a mere pittance of the budget the other car companies have.

Pretty much, the conditions for joining the SuperV8's is rear drive v8 non-turboed and a certain size. Obviously 4wd ain't gonna fly as that's just ridiculous when racing RWD.

It's actually looking like the SuperV8's are trying to become a world series. In 2013 they have a race in the states which should be interesting.

Open series racing never actually works. The GT series in NZ is pretty much completely open with the GT1's being anything goes. There are several $1mill cars sitting on the grid. These cars race with unlimited 4wd pocket rockets and get smashed in anything apart from wet tracks. The variation in speed is huge and it starts coming down to money which, in my mind, racing should be about racing. Other series around the world (World Touring Cars tried it) introduced 4wd cars with FWD & RWD but they had a weight penalty. It still didn't work.

My dream would be an world series with RWD with limited output engines. Personally they'd have to be v8's being I like the sound of a racing v8. All going well the superV8's can pull it off.

GT350 class. (Japan)
GT500 class. (Japan)
Lemons Racing. (USA)
Le Mans Racing.
International D1 (Japan/USA)

None of which hit NZ TV's because we love out precious Ford and Holden V8 Racing. Hell we are lucky if we get speedway on the TV, and we are world champs at the stuff.

Not only fascinating, but now a reality and a resounding success.
That would have to be one of the best motorsports events in NZ that I've attended for a long time (well worth foregoing the Paeroa Street Race for). Besides the great racing and almost continuous entertainment on the day, by far the biggest thing for me was the overwhelming positivity from motorsports people and the public alike - a far cry from the constant niggling that goes on behind the scenes at the NZV8's/Summer Series, from both competitors and officials at each other all the time and the public's often negative reaction to shortened races, delays and bad calls from the officials.

I think this series will only get better, with 4 more cars currently being built for the endurance series and more rumoured plus the promise of a bigger field for the V8 Challenge (old NZV8 cars). Apparently other classes involved with the Motorsport Company's Summer Series are also keen to be involved, not to mention the current Championship leader in NZV8 trying to put a deal together to race V8ST....this is going to get interesting.
It'll also be interesting to see how the legal action brought by the current NZV8 directors against the former NZV8 directors (such as mark Petch etc) now involved with NZST goes.... Exciting times indeed.
