    CBX750 Bol D'or oil?

Does anyone had one of these and know what the go on oil capacity is?.

I just bought one and the guy said it doesnt burn any but when i got it home on trailor and into shed i checked the level and holy fuck it took 500 ml to come onto the bottom of the stick.

I changed the oil and filter tonight as per the manual but when i filled it it took about 3.8 liters not 2.8 as the manual states.

I checked it as per manual [start bike run for 3 minutes then leave for 3 minutes then check]

Any help whith what the iol capicity actualy is?.

Check out this site for any info on the CBX 750 models.

Well worth joining this group. They are extremely helpful team of guys & have a good resource of information you can access including details on oil changes, dyo repairs etc. & much much more.
I have the CBX 750 F model sitting in my garage. Has cracked sump so non goer. Planning to sell it for parts in the next few weeks. I am shifting so the garage is getting a clean out.
From memory it was 3.8 litres.

Id say 4ltr maybe tad over maybe 100ml dont overfill it though . warm the bike up then change the oil as old stuff flow better

    my cb 750 interga took 4ltrs .

i also put some oil in the oil filter but getting on is pain without spilling

You dont really need to know the excact capitacty but wont be under 4ltrs , just go for ride around the block
come home check the stick , you also got oil cooler so that have some too

With the CBX motor it has a shallow sump,So its important to remember that when filling the bike with oil you have too allow for the oil to get back into the oil cooler and feed tubes, you have horizontal filter which will easliy take 250-300 mls of oil and you need too allow the oil to get in there too, unlike the vertical filter you can't fill it with oil before hand... hence why you use more oil than stated

So even if the manual say 2.8ltrs of oil its only reference to the sump capacity

I use to fine 3.7-3.8 litres of oil would do the job

Thanks for that and yes a very interesting site indeed.
Intersting on the two different dipstick lengths and 3.8 liters sound about what i put in mine even though tha manuals say 2.8.
Im wondering if thats how much the motor takes if it has the longer stick but they relised that wasnt enough oil so shortened the stick to raise the level?.

What is the year of your one and how did it get the crack in it?.
Is it a good runner apart from that as my nefuew is looking at getting a bigger bike and likes these also.

    True that....
"Just heading out to the back of the farm... Should be back in a couple of weeks".

You could be onto something re dip stick length kiwicowboy.
OR, they simply made a typo... unless it is written in more than one place.

I got the info on the dipsticks from the team rc17 web page under oil changes explaining there are two length sticks.
The earlier models had the longer ones so i dont think it is a typo but that site is very interesting

Some articles on the site about the dip stick & oil level/capacity.

My son went off the road & had a bit of a crash. Casing took a knock but bike seemed ok otherwise at the time, some mild gravel rash. But about 1500kms later the sump-casing fractured underneath. :-(
Intended to get other motor & use the current one for parts as it only had 5 6000 kms on it. Near new sprocket set, chain, tyres, heated handgrips, ventura packrack after market 4 into 1 pipes etc. Rego says 1986/7, Japanese imported. Rego still on hold. Shifting so all has to go. Plan to put on Trademe next week.

    Hey mate,

Just wondered if your still going to put the gbx on tme for parts as i would be interested in the right hand switch block if parting it out.
    Cheers

What model exactly, and what sort of coin do you want for it?
