plenty of piston kits on ebay still. No one wants them as every bugger wants original 400 parts.

Let me know by PM if you want to know how to increase the oil pump capacity, not hard, easy to find bits....

re the BSA/Triumph threes - Dick Mann reckoned the best noise they made was the moan when they pulled back onto the band after you'd fucked up a corner.
    Very, very, forgiving.

I still remember the first time I heard Alan Blands one climb into the power band.
I would have only been 10 or so.
Likely one of the sweetest four stroke sounds this side of a RC166 Honda

Then again you could diy a set out of pitbike stuff now as they have the 13mm pins.
i wish the engine was a 250, like to make a moden 250 and a old type 4 stroke 250 but only have a cb350 4 engine so guess that will do

The 350/4 was pretty all revs no action, punching the engine out a few mm to 408cc made it a sweet engine.

Have you seen the pics of the Yamaha fzr250/4 done up as a 60's RD05?

Yes the one in the video is just idling around really. I remember chasing one with my TZ and up close peeling into then powering out of the turns I could feel the exhaust pulses banging against my helmet and chest. Close enough to see right inside the megaphone, 3 into 1 and open mega, what a sound, thought I was in heaven. The sound and the thumping from the exhaust, that was truly something. Then there was the high pipe Norton Commando. I was moving in to lean on it as we entered a turn and as he throttled of it backfired. My ear must have been level with the exhaust, the pain was overwhelming and I have been deaf on that side more or less ever since. Ahhh those big British race bikes, love em.

Ther was a period where that sounded OK where he was near a TZ but the rest sounded tedious. Coming from the owner of a Triumph triple.
NSR500V like two CR250s side by side. But the 4s are even better.
Don't you look at my accountant.

Not sure that's worse than when I backed off my bsa in front of Owen Galbraith at Ruapuna - high pipe right in his face. Open face helmet too...he reckoned he got a dose of castor oil in the face, some of which he swallowed....

A guy down here built one of those Honda 4 replicas using a late water cooled motor. It was the early days of CAMS and he wanted to parade it at a Rakaia street race meeting. The then powers within the club wouldn't let him....pretty sure it would be viewed differently now, at least for a parade.

Good to hear it is running again, that thing looked to have huge potential. Do I need to come up and celebrate with you?

Speaking of which, how is young bro going on that two stroke project, have I made everything too tight to fit properly?
