You may have figured it out by now, but if not, by invitation Team GPR have done a trial "noise test" run at Sherriffs Road Kart Track, Palmerston North. Anyone who knows our bikes will understand that when I say that we were on the noise limit at the track today, that there will have to be some extra muffling work done to our bikes to quieten them down a little. This would mean that there would have to be a better muffling solution needed for everyone. Maybe two strokes being the exception.
The crackle of a backfire put the bikes over the limit, but even normal racing was on limit. The Karts by comparison were seemingly 10 decibels quieter at any similar points on the track. This is going to have to be sorted if there is any chance to proceed further.
On the other hand, we got a really enthusiastic and warm response from the Kart people today, and that was a real positive boost. Morley Sherriffs heard us racing from up the road and next thing you know he has come down to look, excitedly rode home to get his not quite "track legal" bucket, but everyone had a hoot watching him go for a ride on his beloved home track, gumboots and all!
I rode Brents bike, John Sendall got a couple of rides in too, Scott, Kieran and Morley all got out there. We have more to do, but it is a great start. Small video to follow.
at the road it needs to be 65db max , the odd pop and bang made us 2 to 3 over , even though he said some super karts are 10 over it would be nice to work well in the limits . so going to work with exhursts and see what i come up with , even if it kills some power . the 2 strokes are not so bad
Great to see some bucket action finally at sheriffs road! If you boys need any help with anything organising things there im more than happy to help out. Maybe after getting bike specs sorted we will be more than welcome out there!
Morley is one legend for sure.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
For those not familiar with the layout, here's a sneak peak. Just circulating to do noise tests, Scott is on Kierans bike (being run in), John Sendall on Brent's bike, and Morley came out in traditional style (gumboots and all) on his trusty Tf.
