Yeah it is. It got water in it at some stage & bearings etc are a mess. From what can be seen there's scoring. It needs to be pressed apart and machined etc. It's going to be pricey no matter which way we go. Might even end up buying another whole enigine.

And no l'm not rebuilding it, my new rider is a mechanic. He seems to be a better choice then me & l don't have hardly any tools or a garage or use of a kitchen table.

You could buy a whole motor and end with exactly the same problem, the crank rebuild might be pricey but you only need to do it once if it's done right

Oh for sure. You never know what you're getting.
Another racer has a GSX bike (running) with a couple spare donks, so can consider that. Use the best one, keep a spare & sell the last engine & bike off.

lt's about $2000-$2500 for a reco. We're not going to rush into anything. I'm out of action for a few months anyways.

More like, buy the bike and spares, keep ALL the motor stuff, sell the rest...They're not exactly common now.
Though you never know what's out there, we picked up a low mileage, welded GS1000 crank about 10km from me - and I'm out in the back country...

The later 1135 or 1150 as it's known crank is a better bet and will fit the early cases. Bigger gudgeon pins etc too.

If you had have read quite a few pages on KB before posting your precious outburst, you’d know that I take the piss out of everyone – myself included, and that the only implication in my sentence was that she needed someone with more balls than Kai. If you don’t like what you read on websites, then simply don’t visit them. Have you critised all the other people on KB for saying they do 200kph, or wheelies, or even illegal drugs??
