I think the V-Max looks pretty awesome...

And it's a fair bit more "hyper" compared its rivals (V-Rod, Diavel) than a Busa or ZX14 is to half a dozen litre bikes.

    I want an FJR1700.

Good value. If you can't afford/don't like a new Speed Triple - you get a lot of that vibe for the coin.

You sure it wasn't just a rooted shock?
The shock and swingarm give trouble first, but push past that and things start getting interesting.

I was riding the thing WAY past it's designed purposes though. But if someone is upgrading a bike, the design brief of it got thrown out the first time a spanner went near it.

You'd know better than me in extreme situations.

I would offer that I have read from suspension experts saying that many a blame pointed at the frame was truly the suspenders.

Such blasphemy as putting modern suspension on a stock Kawasaki Mach III makes it handle just fine. Non-hinged in fact.

Only what I have read though.

Yeah nah. Still have a swingarm and frame tubes made of spagetti.

Well, it was a cheap fun bike, suspension right out of the budget bin, brakes soft etc. One of the few larger capacity bikes that learners from 250s could step up to, as it was gentle if you wanted it.

I've felt the bike flex a bit, sort of steering the two ends when you're nudging it through quicker corners, but don't push it that hard any more.

New shocks sorted out a friends "frame/swingarm" flex on his TX650, I've seen it a few times

Oh for sure. The suspension is lacking badly.

For most bikes and riders, a decent shock and fork internals and their bike will become a much nicer machine.

I loved my Hornet. Great fun, and with the right motivation would keep up with any sports bike I ever rode with.

Im looking for a decent shock that dont cost more than the bike. Done the fork and its great, back is a bit soggy.

Short pipe makes it scream though.

Nah we had two stockers and a hardtail chopper at the flat (none of them mine)

Thanks for that. Would be about $600ish plus gst. Not a bad option at all. Do have ideas towards another shock from another model.
