    Think "Low Powered Induction Cooktop"
Basically works off the same principle as a transformer. Power in one end, goes round in circles and forces another circuit near by to also force the power to go round in circles.

Heh - reminds me of the beehive.

    v0.9.4 released

    Hi guys,

I've just released a new version of this app. The major addition this time is support for real-time announcements - something a number of you requested. This means you can hear who sent a text the moment it's received, rather than waiting until the end of a song.

I've also included a new "Speed Alerts" announcement type to make use of this new feature. Basically all it does is read out your current vehicle speed when it passes certain limits (currently hard-coded to 55, 70, 80 and 100 km/h). It's still in early development; I've tested it around town and it's quite useful not having to look down at your speedo to know if you're over the limit. Thanks to Joe for this idea (I don't know your KB nickname, sorry bud...)

One other notable improvement - announcements can now be skipped mid-way by pressing the Next song button...

If you have an Android give it a go and let me know what you think.

Link to app on Google Play

    Cheers, Matt

Dammit, I need a new music app, not happy with the one I'm using but your one isn't compatible with my phone, probably cos it's too old. (Motorola defy xt, not sure what version of Android it's got)

cheers matt - have put the latest version on my new phone. Huge fan - handy app even just for listening to music and not needing to look at a clock all the time.

For a change I have to disagree with you. I believe everyone is different and should evaluate the situation for themselves. For me no music = mind wanders an often have "far canal, where did that come from" moments.
Music at an appropriate volume, that does not block engine or traffic noises, keeps me on point.
    Same in the car.
    Not loud music. Background.

Loud music is what affects your aural senses in traffic.

Hi Mushu, yep the app needs at least android 4.0 to run, looks like your defy runs gingerbread (2.3). Pretty much any new android phone these days will be on 4.0+ except maybe some $99 Huaweis...

I went to the Hurunui run this weekend, and it performed flawlessly. I thought I would get sick of Betty telling me my speed all the time, but I found that when I didn't have it on, I missed her.

Love the App, I know Speed alerts are in beta - but if you could select what speed it alerts you may bet better? -
Also - anyway to save playlists?

I would purchase this app - if you had a price on it -

I would also have paid for this app, find it quite handy!

I would also like to be able to save playlists, that would probably be my only complaint now is that I have to modify them each time!

Nice one man. Will check it out next week. I actually use this as the main player on my phone. Although as mentioned above the playlist thing is a slight pain, it is completely bearable considering all the positives.

    Cheers for sharing your efforts!

@joemac Haha classic. Glad to hear it worked all right.

@swapsta yep you'll be able to customise your speeds in the next version.

Playlist support is something I've had on the backlog for a while, just been waiting for there to be a demand for it. Guess I have no excuses now...

Charging for it is a tricky one because the plan is to open it to 3rd party extensions, I.e. so you can download custom announcements from other developers from the play store. The trick is to do that without alienating anyone... Still thinking about it. Thanks for the support.

+1 to this! and to playlist support. Noticed it was a hassle having to reset them but hadn't thought about requesting a solution :-)

Using this as my standard music player.
