Hey all,
Just putting a word out for those wanting to join in on a ride down to the DB1K at the end of Feb 14 for the 1&2 March DB1K. Think of it as a bit of a pre-cursor / a warm up lap / a shake out of skills and gear before heading into to the deeper south to do it for serious.
Pampa and I have bluebridge tickets booked for 8am on Weds 26 Feb, returning at 7pm Mon 3 Mar.
Plan A:
26th: Head thru the Molesworth to Hanmer Springs, then back up thru the Rainbow (if time allows) to overnight in St Arnaud on the first night.
27th: Porika Track, Braeburn Track to Murchison, Maruia Saddle to Springs Junction, Reefton, Greymouth, Arthurs Pass, Fairlie. (Lewis Pass as a back up instead of Arthurs).
28th: Prep & rest in Fairlie, maybe a lazy little ride to Mt Cook park or something, but generally just chilling and working on the bikes, talking shit etc).
1-2 Mar: DB1K
3 Mar: Tarmac back to Picton, possibly via Molesworth.
Plan B: (possibly my preference at the moment)
26th: Head thru the Molesworth to Hanmer Springs, relax in the Springs.
27th: Rainbow Rd, St Arnaud, Porika Track, Braeburn Track to Murchison, Maruia Saddle to Springs Junction (maybe Palmer Rd), Lewis Pass, back to Hanmer, soak it up again.
28th: Hanmer to Fairlie, Rest & Prep.
1-2 Mar: DB1K
3 Mar: Tarmac back to Picton, possibly via Molesworth.
Chicks are welcome of course, (there's a couple of other 'Dusty___' names that come to mind

)
Accommodation is up to individuals.
I will do up a GPS route file / files for Garmins that I can send out to those interested. Allows some basic navigation practice in before the real route too.
Pablo and I basically want to ride 'efficiently' - ie not racing, but not f*cking around gas bagging and drinking latte's either. Stops rapidly accumulate to large delays on these long rides.
So yeah, post up if you're interested and we can refine the plan a bit.
Cheers, Buggs
