Cheers husaberg, thanks for posting list of 6 hour winners. I only rode in two and pit crewed for WMCC as well. 83' was the last one I went to !
Packed up and went to Aussie some time after....

Is he still doing tyres in Darfield? He had a nice OW01 too when he was in Manchester St as well.

Different person. Don Wooley had Pit Lane in Manchester st then moved to Darfield post quakes. Now on the inland road and still trading as Pit Lane.

I've no idea where Phil Payne is now. About my age so retired I'd assume.

Don't know. It's a well known bike - Casper ? - Pretty sure it's got 6 hour history. Ask Steve.

I know the bike, I have a pic I took of it at the 6 hour, pretty sure it did the BEARs event on the Saturday and didn't race the Sunday, they were going to run it at SOT until Jay hurt himself

Was this a K100 BMW? Did it blow up in a fairly big way at some time? A mate bought a rather scuzzy K100 some years back off TradeMe, was reputedly a 6 hr bike that had dropped a rod and been rebuilt overnight (?) While replacing a clutch and fixing some other things he did find evidence of some damage including a rod that had been installed wrong way round on the crank. Ran ok but had evidence of a hard life, front disks were worn way past limits. He had a couple of replacements turned down from LandRover flywheels - top grade cast iron gave superb braking
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Correct, I was more thinking of the Aussie 6 hours and the twin Beemers that raced in some of them.
    Tony Hatton was one.

I tired to find it on the MNZ page but it looks like they list them individually.
